You hav eto have balls to fly the IDF Tornado. They took the most casualties in the Gulf War due to the low flying altitude and the dangerous missions.

The new American fighter. Lockheed one the contract, and its going to be stealth and have vectoring and will be able to take off and land like the AV-8 Harrier....that will be my choice when its finished :)

A huge plane!

Reputedly has the same mass a WW2 B17 bomber!!!

and the same fire power as a 50's naval destroyer!

Stunning!

Hope USA can afford em!!!

The RAF are used to insanely risky missions! Look at WW2!
But the risk usually pays off!

The Iraqis didn't forget the gulf war in a hurry...

Yeah i think we'll be able to afford them ;)
In a different time period now.
WW2
I think the P51 Mustang was the best.
Then the Spitfire and then the Zero.
Bombers i think the american B-17 was the best, then the B-29 Superfortress, the Lancaster was agood british bomber.

i thought that the chineese just bought russian fighters:confused:

and during ww2 the RAF bombed at night cuz they were afraid of casualties, it was the USAF who did the real risky jobs

the germans built the first jet fighter, but it came to late to affect the war, they could have had it earlier but hitler thought he could win by conventional methods it was the messcherschmidt 290 or something like that, no?

i was going to add the NAZI planes, but i couldn't remember the names.
I think its the BE-109 and the ME-192..... also the Ju-87 Stuka was a nice one.

its the ME-262. Hitler first made the Me-262's into bombers but then fighters. He should've made the fighters from the beginning to stop the Allied Airforce. The Me-262's decimated the B-17's and other allied bombers. But they just came to late.

WW2.

The P51 Mustang was top class fighter, but too easily damaged!
the F16 of it's day...
the Spitfire was great but had a dodgy fuel feed problem!

Don't forget the Luftwaffe!
The Ta152, Me262 and Fw190 series were lethal planes!
Many allied fighters fell to thie cannons!
That's how young German ace racked up kill scores of 400+!

I would say the greatest WW2 aircraft of all time are:

Spitfire,
Me 109,
Mustang,
Republic Thunderbolt,
Yak 9,
Fw190,
Zero,
Lightning,
Fighter Hiyate,
Ju88,
Fiesler Storch,
Me262 jet,
B17,
He111,

Theres many more, but these types all excelled at thier
jobs and spawned endless varients!
Some planes are damn good, but some are legends!
My ww2 list are those I consider "classics"!:goodjob:

This is a common idea from WW2.
One thing people always think is that it was insane Adolf's insistance on me262 doing jabo duties that slowed production of the deadly WW2 jet fighter,
It was actually a drastic shortage of reliable Junkers Jumo jet turbines that kept this killer machine from the skies in large numbers!!

Lucky for the alliance!!!
As one B17 veteran said:

"If the Luftwaffe had got those jet-powered SOBs into the skies in large numbers during 43'
we could have held our B17 annual
re-unions in a phone box!"

You're right!

There were some awesome machines doing the job in the
Pacific!

But, hey, should'nt we get back to topic?

Sorry Mike!

Do you want us to stick to modern Jet-powered might!?!;)
