Best Mods for Civ 4 - 2016 ?

+1000000 for K-mod. Wouldn't want to play without it.

I think to say it plays "very" differently is an overstatement. You'd be unlikely to notice you were using it most of the time. Mainly it stops the AI from doing stupid stuff, and consequently effectively increases the difficulty level by about a notch. More challenge, better balancing and more viable strategies = more fun.

General consensus is that it plays about 1 and a half levels above the base game. If you're used to multi-player it will feel familiar, if you're used to SP it does feel very different IMO - getting archer rushed by Gandhi lol.

I really enjoy History Rewritten mod, check it. It also have K-mod partially integrated.
It changes so many mechanics, and it's very inmersive

Realism Invictus Mod.
https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/realism-invictus-3-3-full-version.24604/
Pre-copper spearmen. Added Horsemen. Recon units that are useful and upgrade through to modern age.
Some Empires have 7 leaders.
More positive Traits. Added Negative traits, like Megalomaniac (Those leaders weren't all just sugar and spice).
Ethnically appropriate units, unit names and buildings to increase immersion. It really makes it like you are playing that empire, not seeing another generic "axemen" for everyone.

Hijacking the thread due to my inability to find the correct forum. Is BUG 4.4 Windows 10 compatible? All bug dll options are grayed out.

Have you installed BULL along with BUG 4.4? The dll options are all listed with only BUG installed but they don't become active (and are therefore grayed out) without BULL.

I have somehow forgotten that bull is a separate installation. Thanks for the heads up.

I had a TON of fun playing BAT/BUG on a massive 24 CIV World Map, but the game became infuriatingly slow in later turns. Before that, it was incredibly entertaining to see civs rise and fall, enter into huge empires, same empires breaking up, teching, new world vs old world etc. I found the CIV engine handled a real world scenario very realistically. It would be a great game in itself with a few tweaks.

For me, it's History Rewritten, Realism Invincitus and Legends of Revolutions.
Legends of Revolutions plays closest to the vanilla BtS, but it is a bit more polished.
Realism Invincitus has redone tech tree, units etc. What I like is that in industrial ages, cities grow in size greatly (like in real world) and most of your production starts to come from specialists (urban population) rather than farms. Also, it has some stack mechanics, making overcrowded stacks less efficient, and making stacks with variety of unit types better in combat.
History rewritten has really cool and unique religion system, where you can modify your religion like you can your government (civics). There are also cool new corporation mechanics, where you can buy corporation stocks and receive dividends.
All three have civil war mechanics (History Rewritten has best one IMO).

Also, if you want to play a fantasy setting and not "realistic" civ, play Fall from Heaven. It is by far best civ4 mod.

Civ4Reimagined ho!
