I'm really amazed by the results so far of the Spiritual and Creative polls, and seeing as how Gandhi's winning the Spi poll...

Who is, to you, the best philosophical leader and why?

I'm split between two right now, so I'll vote a little later.

I have a bad feeling I know who'll win the poll, but I would love to see the community prove me wrong (Hey, my predicted outcome was wrong in the last two trait polls, so who knows.)

My strategies are rather peacefull thatn warmongering so Elizabeth that is. All time favourite leader.

Yeah, elizabeth for me also, Good trait combo, Good UB(Stock exchange) and an unquestionable UU that needs no introduction.

Have to say Elizabeth, although Pericles, Gandhi, Freddy, Pete and Abe are also great in their own right.

After some thought, voted Suleiman. Philosophical has great synergy with his UB, Imperialistic helps get a quick empire -and- assist with getting Great Generals, his UU is -amazing-.
Runner up goes to Pericles. Philosophical, cheap libraries, UB that grants extra happiness? I'm sold. Pericles is the only non-industrious leader I've ever won a cultural victory with.

I went with Pericles because of the cheap library and strong synergy with the UB towards a cultural victory.

Abe is next as I find the Americans have very strong starting techs (combined with extra happiness) and has a strong mid and late game.

Fred is next as he is the best at the Industrialization period with super cheap assembly plants and managing the large empire, he is unstoppable at higher difficultues with teh Panzer (Until the AI has gunships).

Liz id next although I have always had trouble exploiting her two great traits as efficiently as I should.

I generally have a lot of fun with Al doing the war-monger thing although generally a week combo.

Gandhi next I think, for reasons stated on the other poll.

Peter is one of the best for late Space race victories because of the UB and PHI trait and benefits from getting the Mausoleum wonder for alot of late game Golden Ages.

SUliman is OK although I never saw much synergy in the IMP and PHI.

Sitting Bull has always seamed a waste to give him PHI.

Elizabeth. I like philsophical alot as a trait thesedays. Lots of decent interesting leaders there but i had to go with the queen of the hyrbid economy :king:

One could make a case for liz or sully, but #1 is Gandhi. Although its contribution varies by speed, his UU is *always* useful, one of the few uniques that truly has that distinction. Spi remains a good trait. The UB is a *relative* letdown just in that it isn't totally badass, but just decent...however that's a lot more than you can say about the forum, for example.

Since I insist on being difficult and voting these things by leader rather than civ, it's Fred for me.

The astute amongst you may have noticed a pattern, in all three polls I voted for the guy with Organised. :mischief:

For me the polls have been

CRE: Pericles
SPI: Asoka
PHI: Pericles

I don't usually play Philo, but, I keep hearing alot about Elizabeth.
The Financial trait is good, if you want to stall the AIs to tech up for AP or Space Race Victories, or when you are looking to stomp the AIs with very high units, but, to me those just end the game too fast and you won't enjoy the early year battles as much.

So, it depends on how you want to enjoy the game.
I imagine Lincoln would be good for well rounded combat units and he starts with both food techs.
But, England's Stock Exchange and Financial Trait will likely win out in the long run.
This is why it is a good idea to attack the financial leaders early, and pillage their cottages to lessen their long term advantage.
Like Mansa, because, the AIs don't do this well enough, the Fin Leader will do well.
I don't play Ghandi, his victories seem too passive. Probably, good at them though.

Pericles is ahead of Gandhi?! I can see it, but it's surprising. Creative overshadows spiritual and the odeon > mausoleum, but fast workers are nice...

I ultimately went with Liz. Academy spam in financial commerce cities wins.

For me the polls have been

CRE: Pericles
SPI: Asoka
PHI: Pericles

I went Willem and Ramses for the first two, but Pericles was my 2nd pic for Cre, and Asoka would be my second choice for Spi, as I seem him as one of the best warmongers in game.
Everyone always tells me Gandhi's the best warmonger of the two Indian leaders, but... with Org, running Police State, Theocracy, and Nationhood doesn't feel as bad. And I can quickly set up courthouses in my conquered lands.

Another vote for the most popular. Elizabeth. Financial is very powerful, Redcoat is very good, and the UB is pretty good. I'm talking myself into playing her more.

Gandhi is very good. Admittedly, I like Epic so his UU isn't quite as strong for me as it would be on Normal speed. I really don't get much mileage out of his UB at all. By the time I'm building jails, I usually don't have happiness problems.
