Best way to accumulate GPeople

I hav the knack for about 85% of this game so far. I just cant seem to keep up with people in amount of GP

I know you earn them by gaining Culture. But if I am specializing in Food or Prod, other than working the Art Pieces as I can, what can I do to get more Great People? I dont mean buying them, obviously this is an answer, but when they cost 12k+ each... etc

I see others in the world gaining them often. Is there some magic trick I am simply not seeing?

A lot of techs will give a free GP when your civ is the first to know it.

Culture seems like a bad way to get GPs. The culture cost grows too fast to make it viable to get more than a few GPs this way. For me the best way have been to always be on the lookout for cheap GPs. They can often be quite cheap early game, they start as cheap as 1000 gold each when the game starts, and it should be possible to get them for 6k or less for quite a while during the game.

personally i use gp's to play the market a lot, buy cheap sell high etc. in that way you callect a nice amount of gold and you can keep some of the GP's for the bonus.

The margins are a lot better then luxury resources but it does require regular market checks for opportunities

I was thinking that if I focus on production early and working the market for the first half of the game, including selling all my culture. Then when the costs for great people are around 20-30k for the cheapest one I'd switch over to producing culture. This way I get the expensive GPs for low culture costs in the late game, but fairly cheap cash cost in the early game.

often early it drops to 50 and its often under 100 while sometimes in the late game its 300 400

ofc any smart ppl buy and sell culture based on how much it cost to get a great ppl with it, averaging for the moment of the game
