Better way to Culture?

So I tried to have a culture win in the last game I played and tried to make it faster than I've done before which was "click enter or war endlessly." Didn't work.

What are some strategies for a successful (and non-boring) culture win? Some things that come to mind especially with my last game are;

1. Quick settlement of my first three cities, get them to Influential quickly. I did do this in my last game, but my third city was quite a ways away from my capital and not in a good spot for production or growth (popped a settler and decided to use it to cut off Mansa.)

2. Capital = Great Artist farm? I tried setting up a GP farm in the most fertile valley I found, but I didn't found the city until 1100 AD, putting it at a major disadvantage. The problem with Great Artists of course is that I am going to need a good second city to pump out non-artist wonders...

3. Spread wonders out or just between two cities and culture bomb the third?

4. Religion - found away or head towards the culture techs and capture holy cities as needed for extra revenue?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Welcome!!!

There are several ways to win culturally (I'll assume you have BTS, if not ignore the corps section)

The first thing to mention is a culture almost always relies on adjusting the culture slider to 100% (or as close to without going broke). The question when to do that depends, but here are the times I see

Right after Liberalism and you unlocked the obvious Free Speech Civic.
Before Scientific Method to keep Monestaries and Parthenon active.
After Industrialization so you have the military to defend yourself.
After Mass Media since you have unlocked all of the late culture wonders.

Ways to accumulate culture
1) Wonders: Obvious in the three cities, but you can target just one. Build the Great Artists wonders in a single city if possible (Parthenon, SoZ, Sistene Chapel etc...).
2) Religion: Lot's of them. The more you have the more temples/monestratires and most important Catherdrals you can build.
3) Artists: Run alot of them, especially with the Sistene Chapel.
4) Great Artists: IF you can establish a stronge great Artists farm, well it's self explanatory!
5) Cottages: Great for research, but once you up the culture clided that's an incredible amount of culture. IF you can avoid be destroyed by an overteched AI!
6) Corps: Creative Construction/Sid's Suchi/Jewelers are awesome corps that get you ALOT of culture.

You can win with any combination or lack of any. My RPC: HOLY SAL was a culture win ithout ever running an artist or founding a corp.

What I have found to be a good way to cultural wins is:

Get 3 good production cities up and runnning. Perferable with some extra food for specialist later on, but most importantly to spam wonders in those 3 cities. Try to have 2 cities with almost pure Artist wonders and one with no/few artist wonders(this could be capital). Grab aleast 1 religion. Does not have to be an early one. Build Sixthteen´s chapel and get state rel buildings up and running asap. Early Great artists are settled and later artists are keept for +4000.

First, thanks all both for the advice and the welcome. These boards, especially the feature threads like Madscientist's RPC challenges, have completely changed the way I play this game. Night and day. So thanks for that.

Regarding your replies, I don't have BtS (just Warlords, been waiting for a price drop on BtS) but the rest applies beyond the corporation advice. I realized in my last game that I had neglected my culture slider, I played recklessly, setting up cities way far away from my capital for defensive purposes (continents and i was on a long thin continent, so I managed to shut Asoka and Mansa into the far edges), making the cost of running my 'city states' hard. I would change that next time, I think.

I'll go re-read Holy Sal and see how that works as well. I think my largest problem is simply city management and getting specialists up and running.
