Beyond Earth Factions

Uh. I mean, that's remind me of "The Day After Tomorrow" where there are such a great natural "global" catastrophe on (basically) developed world which the USA migrate their citizen to Mexico and South America. :crazyeye:

I don't sure if "them" in your post would mean "Germany + Britain + Scandinavia in particular" I want to say.

Well, to be honest, the world would be even more screwed than they made it out. Major food baskets like Central Asia, America, etc. were under ice in the alst shot of Earth. This means rampant famine and then, with all the refugees that would cause a hell of alot of strife because al the natives would be annoyed that so many foreigners are there and such. There is actually a very interesting video someone made of what would happen after the The Day After Tomorrow. Here

Kinda unrelated but idk where to say it :D I think I'd be cool if the Leaders appareance "changed" along their race affinity. I'm 99.99999999% sure it won't happen but i'd be cool :p

This is your lucky day: it's going to happen ;)

I always thought it'd be cool if the interface was your own desk with a hologram machine on it used for interfacing with leaders because it doesn't make sense to have to fly to your rival's palace every time you want to trade corn. :p

That's definitely possible for a game like this. I just wish there was something you could do to make the normal civ series work like that

I'm pretty sure it's been announced that they will

omg they have? Awesome :D i just assumed they wouldnt since they cba in Civ 5 (though I understand the reasons why it didnt happen there)

I always understood it like them watching through a screen (at the modern age ofc). That's how it was in AC iirc.

unrelated but I still hope that "Bolivar" is a girl. I really want that Santiago 2.0

I hope you're right Krajzen, simply France + Spain + Portugal sounds boring and odd.

Also because I can't grasp how could such a significant country as Germany be left out, no matter what kind of "great mistake" there might be. It's almost like deciding not to include America in any form.

I think Franco-Iberia is mostly the western Latin speaking part of the continent. United under French hegemony, so it would be made up of France+Spain+Portugal+Italy+Belgium.
The rest could've banded together into an own organization to counter rising French power. This would for one be a rebirth of the traditional Anglo-German anti-French alliance from early modern times and it would also be to a lesser degree an alliance of Germanic language speaking countries(Britain, Germany and Scandinavia).

I'm putting my money on either the "Middle-East" or "Germany-Britain" being a pre-order bonus faction.

I want a "North European Federation" consisting of Britain, Germany, Scandinavia. Because the fact that there is no faction currently representing Germany is gonna make me not want to get it at launch.

Your name kind of gives this away :p

That has got to be the most shallow, narcissistic criteria for choosing whether or not to buy a game that I have ever heard.

I'm exaggerating a bit, but my point is that I'm a bit disappointed.

I get the disappointment, but within 30 seconds of release some enterprising young person will mod it. there is such a large junk of Europe "missing" until now that it really smells like an expansion gap, or DLC.

That's kind of what I'm hoping for. It would be great to have the Dutch and Germans and Scandinavians and British in a united faction.

It would be nice but frankly, if they don't do it it's because they want to focus on nations outside if Europe. Like the Kavithan and Somalia and Pan Asia and polystralia and Brazilia! :)

I guess I get that. But man... Why did they have to make the Western European faction be the Spanish and French?

But man, why are you complaining about design choices when you don't even know the designs?

Well, if Germany is caught in the center of a West vs Russia war and so is Scandinavia the. They are boned. And then Britain may have just collapsed. Or perhaps Franco-Iberia "protects" some other parts of Europe.

junk of Europe

Freud called, he wants his mental slip back.

Hey Pwnzer, i wanted a faction i can identify too. But then i realized that there are many of them. Its the future damnit, nationalism is long outdated (it is a very antiquated notion here in Europe even now) and the main identfier will be the goal a society sets for itself, a more future oriented version of 20th centuries ideologies. This works great with the concept of affinities and colonization, where my neighbor on planet ist immensely more important to me than my country of origin on far away earth. In the end i'm happy that many of the factions don't identify along ethnic or national lines (but there are some that do, like panslavia, were both of that seems to be important), but are communities of faith, trade and culture. You'll select your faction on grounds of affinity to their goals anyway and that supplements the vision of a more optimistic future nicely. I'm ethnic german too, but i'll play happily as Panafrican union, because it suits my playstyle and ideals. Its the 23th century, why care about skin color or language anyway?
