Version 3.19 looks as if it blind-sided everyone - it came out of the blue for everyone here, and I suspect it surprised Aspyr as well. Aspyr were already committed to a final release sequence involving Firaxis approvals and DVD burning and distribution based on 3.17. They can build, test and release an online patch much faster, so they'll probably do that to ensure that they get a positive reception at launch.

For that matter, I kind of suspect they've already started working on 3.19! I personally would not be the least bit surprised if what ships is 3.17, but 3.19 is ready for download at the same time. It seems plausible that the time lag for approvals/shipping/etc. would be long enough to permit that.

So does anyone know whether it's actually going to be out on Monday or not? Amazon UK & US still list it with that date - presumably they would have stock in by now........
someone out there must know whether the thing has been pressed, printed, boxed, packed and despatched or not.

Exactly so: we submitted 3.17 for final approvals by Take 2, and merely days after submission 3.19 came out.

It's weird once I've played an 'improved' version of Civ, I have a very hard time going backwards. I played vanilla Civ IV on my Mac to see how the graphics worked, and it seemed so dated compared to BTS, it was pretty wild. And 3.19 was such a good patch, so great to hear that we'll be up to date fairly soon!

I was considering heading to my Apple store near me, but I'm hesitant that they'll have it in stock right away for some reason. I'm thinking Amazon is the safer bet...but it would be great to have it tomorrow, haha...

I might call first, but what other brick and mortar place could we get it. I dont like to use amazon they take to much profit from the publishers and i have to pay for shipping.The advantge of NY is you can walk to the stores

Actually, I have found that when I pre-order at Amazon and select free shipping for a product that's not out yet, it's usually not any slower than regular shipping. It's only slower when the product is in stock at the time of the order. YMMV.

Ordered BTS from Amazon UK at the weekend and got an order confirmation indicating despatch today.

Amazon UK is now showing BTS as "Temporarily out of stock" - anyone ordering will be advised
at some unspecified time in the future on a likely delivery date.

Does this mean a) all the copies they ordered into stock have been sold already on pre-order or
b) although previously expecting to have BTS to ship out today, they haven't received any copies yet.

If anyone gets a copy (especially in the UK) can they post here to confirm that it actually exists? (It's still not up on the Aspyr website, which leaves me wondering............)

As to when that translates to store shelves, I have no idea. I was told it might hit stores soon-ish, but I would *absolutely not* rush out without calling first.

That said, the dates you see on Amazon are guesswork.

Edit: it's actually my expectation to find out the in-store date by looking for the first confirmation post on this forum.

Just checked - now Amazon is saying "Usually ships in 2 to 4 weeks" which is a change from this morning when it said "Temporarily out of stock." My ship date is still listed as July 27th, however.
