Hi folks, first post,
I've been getting back into Civ IV because of Rise of Mankind and A New Dawn. I was trying to install A New Dawn, and started hitting problems. Anyway, I decided I would rather have the game on a different partition, so I cleared it out and attempted to reinstall on my other drive/partition - two birds with one stone!
Anyway, I installed Civ IV and Warlords (I have the Gold edition) without problems. When I went to install Beyond the Sword, however, it refuses to install, citing an already installed copy. The error noted that it was the patched edition, if that matters at all.
So, here's what I've attempted so far. First and foremost, I've obviously deleted everything overtly Civ IV-related on the original partition, C:. I've also scoured Windows' Search function for anything "Civilization" and "Beyond the Sword" related. Finally, I saw the Registry-based solutions in this thread, and failed to find the cited entry in either LOCAL_MACHINE or CURRENT_USER. As such, I am at quite the hard wall, here. I can use Regedit without too many problems, but I don't know nearly enough to target anything there I missed.
I am away from the PC in question at the time of this post. When I get home, I will try the solutions in the "Can't Reinstall" thread again when I'm back at it in a couple hours. Any help is appreciated!
My system is a 64-bit two-processor machine, with each processor running dual-core. Four gigs RAM, and the video card is pushing a gig in memory - just bought it, so I can't quite remember the specs. I can provide whatever else as necessary. No serious problems with anything Civ IV-related before this, aside from the occasional insignificant CTD.
Thanks!
