Getting back into this mod, not sure how many people are still around but I was hoping to get some pointers about building big empires. What I am really looking for are the specific modifiers related to number of cities i.e. stability hit at x # of cities, research penalty at x # of cities, that sort of thing

Also anything else that is helpful when creating big empires for domination victory etc.

Thanks

ok to clarify I have read and followed the domination thread, as well as the Mamluk domination and Byzantine world conquest threads (epic, you guys gonna play another?). What I was hoping for was a quick summary of what you guys learned through playing them, or utilized for victory.

For example there is much discussion in these threads about "don't advance until your techs are learned so that you don't get the research penalty". However, I am interested in the specific number of cities you can have before your research is penalized. Often in these threads where the top players discuss things, they take for granted that every one knows this stuff, and they don't mention what to them is probably common knowledge.

I was super excited to see that blizzrd had posted in my thread, he (she?) is exactly the class of player I was hoping to get answers from but in the end only told me what I already knew lol.

AP you out there any where?

I'd still be interested, but everything went very quite quiet quickly after we finished the Byzantine SG. Perhaps if edead releases version 0.4 soon that would be a good time to fire up another SG?

Compared to regular RFC BTS, the expansion penalties in SoI are significantly easier to handle. As I understand it, the stability hits for occupying tiles outside your core area are not as tough, and the penalties for owning lots of cities (which starts at more than 10 in regular RFC BTS, not sure of the specific details for SoI) are lower too or certainly seem to be from my experience.

But the ability to hold the Roman Emperor title means that stability can be worked around regardless of which nation you play in SoI. It is far and away the most important consideration for any super-sized empire in SoI.

As above, I think the research penalties would still kick in after your 10th city, but I think they are lower than in regular BTS.

Definitely still around these parts, definitely a 'he'.

I'd be confident that AP is out there ;), but specifically where he is I couldn't rightly say. :p

He is here and reading this thread right now :D

I am always lurking and definetly in!:D

I've got the same feeling or then it is because in SoI you don't usually occupy multiple cores.

The Roman Emperor title has lost some of its signifigance, but it is still a good way to start.

This is true, I remember Edead mentioning it once.

Also, you don't get penalties for foreign cores if the civ to which it belongs has exceeded its historical "fall" date and can't respawn anymore (e.g. KoJ after 1291).
