Bindy's Road to EQM -- Round 1

The AI don't get the same bonuses as they did in Warlords and Vanilla, so Emporer is probably a little bit easier than it was. There are a range of really good new leaders as well (my faves being Darius, Hammurabi, Justinian, Pericles and Zara).

The AI will pursue a cultural victory now, which is pretty cool as well.

You don't say?

But the AI just plays significantly better than before. So higher levels might be easier or more difficult, not sure, whereas Monarch and lower is definitely more difficult now in my experience.

I think the fact that the AI plays better makes it easier at Monarch or below. On Warlords/Vanilla playing Monarch you couldn't count on much support (ie trade value) from the AI, meaning you won later as you had to research more yourself. In BtS, you can get greater trade value frome the AI, meaning its easier to win as you're less likely to lose to the AI on Monarch or below.

Well the early rush seems to still work ;)

225BC, random leader gave me Hatty, alone on a continent with Wang Kon, so I haven't met any of the new guys and gals yet.

Wang is no more and his 5 cities are in my empire. He did whip some defenders though, shame I pillaged his iron and my withdrawal chariots softened up the few spearmen he managed to build. Bit concerned about tech speed, should make it to caste system before cash runs out, so that should be OK.

Didnn'r realise you need aesthetics AND polytheism for the Parthenon (got aesthetics first), I'll remember that in future. It's nearly built anyway. Pyramids already built, ahh, marble and stone with first 2 cities. The only happiness resources on the island are grapes! There are a few whales off shore, so optics is a priority.

I'm going to try for a cultural victory since I didn't get one with Warlords. No religions though, so it could be difficult.

Righto, spreading Hinduism to the AP city didn't work, so I guess I need to spread buddhism around to stop Shaka winning a religious diplo.

I've just vassalised Gilgamesh (war weariness was forcing me to run 40% culture), time to build the iron works and knuckle down to teching. Hammy beat me to economics, the shame, I wasn't watching the tech data closely enough :(

1704 now, still alot of turns to go. The win should be in the bag, just need to build some troops to put off Shaka, Ragnar and Pacal from attacking me. But I have grenadiers and they only have knights so I think I'll be OK.

Cuirassers are pretty good, but nothing on cavalry. Researching rifling next anyway (or maybe democracy for SoL, it's pretty good on this map).

I checked the HOF, there are NO games as yet for Monarch/Standard/Epic/Space Colony.

EDIT: Whoops, this was meant to be in the challenge #2 thread ;) Drunk again ;)
EDIT2: BtS seems a bit easier than warlords, I'll go back to Emperor after this game, see if I still get slapped down by the REXing AI.
