BirdNES 3: Discussions & Questions

Ok, Spain and Portugal should be set with their maps; the Inka and Aztecs have been sent their updates, stats and maps.

Stats for the rest of you are next. And since UNC has made it into the final four, I'll do them tonight. :D

Stats are up with the exception of Gujerat, which I forgot. It will be up later tongiht since it involvees more thatn posting ATM. I will also post a new player list in the game thread; please check it for you name if you have recently joined.

Bird, there are two pairs of Asian stats.

Edit: Why didn't Ryukyu getting the title "Most Favoured Kingdom" from the Ming affect my prestige? And why did the loyalty of most factions in my country go down?

Anyways, I'm glad stats are done. :)

Thanks for noting that. Sorry about not deleting the old stats for Asia that has been fixed. And your prestige too.

Where are the stats for Naples?

Could you let me know why some of the factions' loyalty went down? Merchants I guess would want me to take a harder stance on piracy, although I figured the whole harbor and trade fort thing would keep them happy. The Anji I guess might be uncomfortable with another Anji joining them in Shuri, although that seems a bit unlikely. I can see why the Jito Dai would be a little upset, seeing as how one of them was chosen above the others to become an Anji by Sho Shin.

Birdjag, two things on stats.

Firstly, is there an archive on former stats or should I aim to save each turns stats privately each time?

Secondly, shouldn't my mosque wealth have gone up from my big on religious initiatives?

Would it be possible to send me France's last turn stats? I am used to having them with my orders and didn't realize until too late since you don't want stats with orders anymore I don't have them saved.

I have noted, dear father, of many unaligned Italian states. They work for no lord and are often molested by bandits and robbers. So many poor, small towns that can only aford a small church. I ask you blessing to annex some of the villages and help them work not only to survive but for the greater good. With the routes secured, a pilgrim can walk without fear from bandits from London to Rome.

If you are thinking of the light gray in Italy, you are probably thinking of this little town called Florence, which only happens to be, along with Milan, Naples, and Venice, the most powerful Italian state. Or you may be thinking of Ferrara, a town so insignificant that it held a council there in 1438 and was counted as one of the greatest patrons of the arts at this time. Or charitably you could be thinking of the Italian state north of you, which is Montferrat, and is technically part of the Holy Roman Empire.

You may want to check out a map of Italy. And yes, I do notice that there is a sliver of white just south of Genoa, but just think, that white spot is almost completely surrounded by two of the greatest Italian powers. Surely there is a reason for it not belonging to one of them. And most likely that reason is just as valid as why Genoa won’t be able to get it.

Right where they are supposed to be. Go check now. ;)

All factions decay in loyalty each turn. They do so at different rates. Money spent on a faction can offset the decay or improve things. Policies can help too.

There is no archive on stats. Save what you think is important. Mosque wealth rises more slowly and is not as volatile as many other stats.

Yes I will post them here shortly. And after having done one update, I do prefer to have previous stats included with the orders. When I announce the next orders due date, I will remind everyone to include them.

Scowler will be beheaded! Capital punishment will continue until morale improves!

Birdjaguar do I have any idea where the pirate base is? What locations did the pirate attacks happen in? Where was my navy during this time?

Birdjaguar can you answer these?

Grey means small, unaligned and unimportant states.

Bird, can you tell us the reason to leave Florance out?

Also, I went from 1 Iniciative to none. :p. How can that happen in real life?

The "scowler" was not noticed excpt by me. It is an indicator of factional displeasure and not of a particular person's opinion of the emperor's new policies.

No you do not know where the pirate base is located and may not be a single base anyway. BTW, keep in mind the length of China's coastline and the fact that you have a 20 ship navy.

I left florence out because i have too many nations in Europe and no one seemed too interested in playing it. It does have NPC stats.

Remember each turn is 5 years. Lots can happen in that time. Initiative points are recalculated every turn, based on a variety of factors including the loyalty of your factions. The less loyalty at home, the more attention you need to pay to internal affairs and the less your freedom to engage in foreign affairs without additional risk.

Nobles -1/3
Popolo Grasso -2/2
Popolo Minuto 1/1

Loyalty seems to be a problem in Genoa. Perhaps 2,000 gold could be better spent at home rather than given to the Pope. but you are the ruler and get to make the hard decisions. :)

My stats confuse me, this happened in the update:

Which doesn't appear in my stats. I'm also guessing that the other banks stats are suss. Maybe a simple column for profit and loss might also be a good thing.

Is plunder spendable? I don't see it in the rules.
If the spread sheet is working right it gets added to your treasury as gold. A negative number in the "other" income spot means that someone has plundered you and that amount is subtracted from your income.

Agostino Adorno 4/3 The Leader: Not totally loyal to Genoa but more then any other group
Council of 12 0/1 Neutral but some power, elected and based on others
Nobles -1/3 Remaining Nobles only slighty against Genoa
Popolo Grasso -2/2 The Higher/Middle class: merchants, Guild leaders, The least loyal due to inter-state influences
Popolo Minuto 1/1 The Middle Class, regular guild masters, merchants and artisans. Loyal and are happy for the extra cash
Cappette -1/0
Farmers of Sardinia? Angrey at not being represented but meaning nothing anyways?
Let me Breake this down!

So the best way is the support the guilds to make them see Genoa is the best city for them to say in and support. Help the lower people by continuing to help them. The Nobles are getting easier to take under the fold. Maybe have a writer write about them? The Cappette are almost not noticable but can be manupulated by other states. The Great Merchants are pretty angrey at me for some reason.
