No, things are different than last turn. Initiative changes based on lots of variables including faction scores and prestige. Your presitge is down, Trade involving India and the Indian Ocean is down across the board because of the war and an increase in piracy. Your corruption is up a little too. I'm guessing that most of what you see as "wonky" is because of prestige, trade and corruption. I don't think you are alone in seeing a drop in trade and therefore a drop in cash.Stats look wonky - I had almost twice that in income last turn. Am I missing something?
I'll take a look.I challenge the stats on ground of England having double my income and nearly beating both France and Spain combined. Also that England has galleons when Spain hasn't, even though our cooperating ally neighbor had them first. Stats are seriously hurting my interest.
Protestant work ethic.
Bird, you forgot to increase my number of ships by 2. I should now have 103 ships, because I bought 10 and lost 8.
It's a magic formula that everyone knows except you. It's illogical for England to have more base income than France or Spain, especially without a colonial empire. They simply over took me in one turn without my stats so much as changing and I'm supposed to be raking in more income. How did they have such a tech jump over everyone else? I've been investing for every turn and mine hasn't increased at all. China has better land tech than I do.. Are my investments just not counting or is there some magic formula that everyone else knows how to exploit that I'm missing?

The upkeep for my navy should be 0 now, since I have none.
More industrialized nations
Songhai took 20 years to develop guns because they were so far behind Europe.
Spain grabbed matchlocks in a single turn once Russia had them, and at no expense.
At this point he is still alive and running the church.BJ: If you are assuming the mantle of Pope, is the last pope dead? will there be a succession?
levels of "industrialization" are tracked for now by "artisan level". Nations with a higher artisan level generally use "more advanced" production techniques. IIRC the Aztecs are at level 1 or 2 and Spain at level 4. They will need to gain some sophistication in their production before they can make guns. it will be easier for them to get to level 4 than for you to get to level 5 because they can see where they need to get to and you cannot. Europeans can teach tehm level 4 stuff, but there is no one to teach you level 5 things. What does this mean?
That's odd.
That's also odd.
