Birgit and the Ring of Carcer

to turn good, obviously. The question is though, will brigit leave you if you turn away from the good alignment? If so, you're stuck with order/emp/RoK/FoL

Ah, I see. Tho, I don't know why you'd need to be good. I've had Birgit on my side when I was OO.

I mean, considering that Bhall did imprison Brigit in an area that could be said to be anathema to her, and that Mulcarn and Bhall were feeling a bit chummy when that happened, would Mulcarn have had a role?

Bhall and Mulcarn still hated one another. They just happened to both be Evil.

The game i'm playing now, I happened to get bright (lvl 18 basium, killed acheon on the way, but that damn elohim stole the horde ='(), But she was already outside of the ring, and all I did was move over to her and I captured her.
Is that how its intended?
The only thing that I could think of causing it, would be that the ring of cancer was just inside of the dovelo's boundaries, so that might have sprung her prematurley?

That would be an interesting exploit if it works.

1)Choose a barb leader
2)Settle near the Ring of Carcer
3)Push Brigit out of the ring w/ culture
4)Declare war on Barbs

This may not work because I thought that the peace w/ Barbs also gave you open borders

FireBlaze also mentioned the Elohim. If the Elohim owned the city when they cast the world spell, I could imagine Brigit being bounced out of it.

what about a new ability:
brigit spawns fire elementals at the beginning of each turn
no restrictions.

If Brigit was already inside the Clan's Territory at the moment that they lost Peace with the Barbarians, it probably would have pushed her out of their territory, since the Barbarians don't follow Esus.
My experience with Hyborem was that the barbarians were not pushed out of my territory when they declared war on me. I haven't played any other Barbarian factions since .2x, so I couldn't tell you if they behave differently. :)

I don't remember barbarians leaving my infernal lands either.

Sorry for the lack of spaces, stilll getting used to the flow of posts here :D

Anyways-
I mentioned the Elohim, because before I went to spring bright, Archon was in his city chilling. So I come over and kill him with basium, but then the Elohim came in and killed the one other warrior that was in the city, and stole my horde(Bastards!). Yes I did declare war on them, and yes they did cast their world spell.

HOWEVER

The culture ring around the captured city wasnt near Bright, it was like 7 or so squares away, and the Ring was in the Dovello's territory anyways.

So this brings me back to my origional theory that Bright is released into the world if a ring of culture surrounds her.

Other things to help solve the mystery-
I was playing FF
Bright was age 263 (IIRC), and was on top of the ring of cancer, apparently not having moved an inch
Bright went without a fight, akin to capturing a worker. If that worker was the archangel of flames that is.

Because there are 2 conversations going on. One about how Brigit REALLY works, and one about how MC plans to make her work for his own mod-mod.

Isn't that always how it works?

I've seen Brigit in people's territory plenty of times and not leave the ring and go wandering. Usualy she ends up in the Illian's territory due to flavor start.

That's cuz she needs a lvl 15 unit to release her; she can't go wanderin w/o it. Worldbuilder is a real help here.

I had found Brigit once, and make it a goal to get her. After reaching level 15 with a shadow hero(I was playing Grigori and had promoted an adventurer to a shadow), I went straight to her. As it is well known, shadows have the Counsil of Essus religion. Imagine my frustration when I got the message "Your unit destroyed a Brigit", and Brigit disappeared....

...Should I assume that units of Neutral-Evil and Evil religions destroy Brigit?

...or, Perhaps, my unit destroyed her because it had the hidden nationality ability?
Unfortunatelly, I did not reload a save to try it out. At that time I thought the unit's religion was the issue.

It was because of the unit was HN.

Or maybe the game just realized that unleashing an angel on creation goes against the Grigori philosophy. :p

While I think that alignments should prevent you from getting her, there is not such machanism, not for alignment, state religion, or unit religion.

This is just one more reason why creating Brigit via an <PythonOnMove> call would be so much better.

Though, shadows can take of HN and put it back on again so shouldn't be too much problem there. Could always reload.

I don't think Brigit schould be able to fly the moment you rescue her. After all Bhall burned her wings, as it ist said in the discription. But perhaps you could complete a ritual with her, that restores her former power. For example you could move her to a well of fire mana (she is the arcangel of fire after all) and let her complete the ritual there, similar to exploration of lairs. She would need to stay there for some turns and the fire mana ressource would be removed after completing the ritual, but she would return as fully powerfull arcangel. She should be less powerfull before the ritual (perhaps basic strenght reduced to 7 and no attack-boni). After regaining her power, she could be made stronger (Basuc strength of 9, attack boni against deamons and avatars due to her possible aversion against Bhall) get a new model after that (old model with angel wings and perhaps an aura of light, as Chalid Astrakein [was he spelled this way?] has).

This would help to show, that she had to cure the wounds from her fight with her godess.

I recently freed her myself and she was quite capable with iron weapons. Might be a good idea to go for the City Raider promotions rather than combat first so she gets a bigger edge at something from the start. To compare, my 4 Hero Luonnatars (sp?) were much better with their combat V and various specialties initially.
