I was having a decent game with the evil Sheaim (trying it the first time for the medal collection) when suddenly all of my cities had blight. I checked all the AI civs and none of them have a spell like that. My cities have between 4-21 green faces and population is dying off but I have no idea how to get out of it.
Does it have anything to do with the Armageddon Counter ? Since I just experimented with the Sheaim and wanted to see what happens when all hell breaks loose, I let it go pretty high, 30 right now.
If serious blight precedes the armageddon and there's not much left of any cities then it's no fun

Otherwise, you just need to sit it out. I think the best way to do that is to make sure you have a big surplus of health-generating resources and buildings, but keep your cities not too big until Blight passes (as the amount of extra unhealthiness you get in each city from Blight is directly related to that city's population).
will intensify the effects of Blight. I almost always make sure my core production cities have built up at least some of the health buildings before Blight hits. Herbalist is cheap and effective, especially with reagents. Aquaduct if you don't have many health resources. These will keep your cities from starving back to square one.
