Blue Marble Terrain

I don't have any experiance to help you HitAnyKey, but I do have Blue Marble installed and can play it for SP games. But when I play PBEM games or other cheat protected games like the GOTM, the mod is not present. This all happens automatically. So I can play a PBEM game with the vannilla graphics and then immediatly play an SP game with Blue Marble.

Since you've done a reinstall, perhaps if you reload BMT you will be able to continue with your PBEM and still be able to have BMT for SP.

I installed BMT just the other day and things have been running just fine in my single player game. Today my brother finally emailed me back the turn in our PBEM game. When I tried to load the game, I got a message about the save being protected because of custom assets. It just gives me an 'OK' box to click on, and when I do the game exits and I can't start my turn. I even ran the Uninstall within BM and tried again and got the same error. What's going on and how do I fix it?
The BlueMarble terrain mod itself does not change anything in your original installation and does not affect protected games. But if you use the ScalingTool to set differenct 3D graphics parameters, it will change the original game so that protected games do not run anymore. Because of this you can restore the original settings anytime in the ScalingTool via "Original Scalings".

HitAnyKey: If your computer file structures differ, there will be a problem. Example: His is NTFS, your is FAT32, or vice versca.

Ahah! That was the problem. I had changed the scaling on the city size. Had actually forgotten I had done that. Also didn' tknow that was going to cause a problem in the multiplayer games.
Thanks CF!

WILL THIS EFFECT MY MUTIPLAYA EXPERINCES?

opps caps on sry:D :D

i found a bug
when i start a game with no cheating and no barbains
the gfx settin dont take effect

It's safe to say that we're a step closer to perfectly depicting reality in computer games. Thank you.

ColdFever, a quick question please (sorry if this has been asked before).

Does your mod use more ram or graphics memory, as it seems I'm getting slight slowdown in late huge games , which I wasn't getting with Vanilla?

Thanks

Yeah, I'm palying the same game and it's lagging a bit with the Blue Marble mod. I think it's because the terrain is really detailed.

I almost hate to ask this as it will show what a noob I am at Civ IV modding but what would I have to do to make this the terrain in the game when I am running the Grave's mega mod, or ANY other mod for that matter?

Would I have to over-write the original terrain or just simply copy this to the custom assets folder?

BlueMarble is based on Civ V1.00 from October 2005 and consumes the same amount of ressources. In December 2005 Firaxis then reduced the resolution of many textures to 25% via Civ patch V1.52 to help slow computers and computers with little graphics RAM. This reduction is not imitated by BlueMarble and it continues to use the original high res graphics for optimal results on modern computers.

btw: I highly recommend to activate this option in the graphics settings to make Civ4 look smoother and more realistic: Globe View Buildings Disabled

BlueMarble should work out of the box with any mod that does not change the terrain itself, for example the "Tutorial". Exceptions: it will not work for multiplayer games or games with "No Cheating" enabled. This behavior is by design of Firaxis Games and I am afraid I can't do something about it.

Coldfever-- thanks for reply, that explains the slight difference I noticed but its not at all severe (my system is only 4 months old ..so it should cope anyway), and I'll continue to use Blue Marble :)

I think that is one year too much lol. First I thought you where joking and talking about Civ V. :p

I just remembered to thank you ColdFever. I installed this a long time ago and it is now absolutely required - I find it difficult to play without!

Hey, sup. This is my first post on Civ Fanatics!!!:D

I downloaded the blue marble mod and played a few games on it, but i still have some questions. Will someone help me anxwer them?

1: I'm not sure if this is because my computer is stupid or what, but are the forest graphics supposed to be two dimensional?
2: Also, how do I get the original graphics back?

1) I'm sorry I've really no idea what you mean by this, can you clarify?
2) You just rerun the Blue Marble "installer program" again , and it gives you the option to uninstall it.
