LOL the english site has a corrupt zip file and the German site actually has a file that does work.

Also, I loaded this graphics mod, the title screen has the Blue Marble logo under the Civilization logo, and well . . . am I doing something wrong or is everyone else smoking crack? These don't look any different than the original graphics to me.

Well thats my take on it. If I am seeing the new terrain graphics they look very similar to the old ones.

Question (also sort of a request ), would it be possible to make a very high resolution/detail/whatever version of this for those of us with powerful machines? Would it look significantly better?

The original graphics are brighter, at least on my machine. Right now I'm not sure which ones I like best.....

Maybe there is a way to tweak them using the CivScale program from the same web site.....

I have to say the same. The original has much better color contrast. For example, in BMT plains are green and thus hard to distinguish from grassland. The whole base color is also too dark.

I like the darker look. Plus the greener terrain is way better, IMO.

The Greener terrain is alittle better, but I don't get the same WOW feeling I got from snoopy's terrain. Oh well... sorry.

Thanks for the info, indeed there was a difference of 1 Byte, probably a transmission fault. I re-uploaded and tested the package, now it should work.

OK. Now that I see the screenshots I realize that I was using the Blue Marble terrain graphics in my game. I think that the grassland blends into the greener plains tiles very well but other than that I'm not so impressed.

The Civ3 terrain graphic sets (Snoopys etc)were incredible to say the least.
I think the problem may be that while, the original Civ3 terrain graphics were really awful and the mod graphics were done really well. In Civ4 the original terrain graphics are pretty good and the mod is done well so the difference between the two is less than spectacular.

As I said before the grassland to plains is more realistic, other than that I'll concentrate on the game and not the graphics.

Having reviewed the screenshots I don't think there is much of a difference to me. I agree grasslands might be a little better but not enough for me to download.
