I recently had some blue screen problems, windows would crash on boot and then start normally. I thought it was a memory or a driver problem, but I got a new hard drive and new memory and blue screen problems still persist. Do you have any recommendations or tips what I should do?

Edit: more weirdness. Once Windows has started once, it will never BSOD if restarted. But being left overnight seems to cause it to crash when I try to start it again. My google fu skills are lacking, so if anyone comes across any relevant information, I would be grateful.

You might have to reinstall windows. If that doesn't work, you might have a flaw in the motherboard.

I should have mentioned; I did reinstall windows, on a new hard drive (Birthday gift from my brothers and sister). Problems still persist.

Left overnight? Any chance that it is crashing when trying to go into sleep or hibernate mode? Other things to consider are heat (although most places get cooler overnight... Unless it is a place where the cooling is turned off at night?) or power supply.

I try not to leave the computer on at night, or in general when I am not using it. But, I think that I may have found the answer. My anti-virus (AVG) drivers may be the cause. Can anyone recommend me another anti-virus?

The symptoms are pointing to the power supply IMO.

I don't think so, I changed my power supply just two years ago, but I think I have a functioning power supply lying around here, so I might as well check.
