BoG 3 - Deity Minus

Very Very nice start. SHould be good to help me learn my way around diety.

Im just gonna go normal, but trying to get as many wonders as possible. not exactly the best civ to go 20k with. anyways, we are running one helluva farmers gambit

Early - move one square to SW. Start roading and irrigating both cattle and then a BG. Build 1 warrior for exploring and then start building granary. research pottery of course. Get 25 gold.

Middle - Start min research on alphabet. We get CB burial from hut [party] send 1st settler to 5 ivory city. Pop a warrior. Very good since I only built one. In case u havent noticed, were running a farmers gambit. Get warrior code from hut. :hmm: seems pretty empty up in here. Send 2nd settler to future worker city site. It will have the wheat. Settle edrine. Start work on rax. It will be a warrior factory I hope.

Late - looks like im gonna have to explore with the settlers. Hope I don’t run into any barbs. Settler heads west. Bursa founded, starts on worker. We get a 2nd warrior from hut. Contact rome on turn 31. They have IW, the wheel, and alphabet. Wont trade yet tho, as his prices are monopoly. Iznik founded. Has a goldn mountain and three other mountains. Also has quite a few bonus grassland and a hill.start on temple, tho it is vetoable. Send settler to a spot 6 tiles from capitol, but is coastal. Romes roaming archer is scaring me, so I go ahead and make a gpt deal with him for iron working. We have two irons in our first ring! One in the capitol, the other in one mountain next to the golden mountain. I think I averted disaster tho. Rome had an archer within 1 square of bursa. After giving him our entire treasury and 7 gpt, he didnt attack the undefended city and moved away instead. Founded uskadar. Don’t know what to build, so it can be up to next ruler. Settler sent west. Keep exploring south with the southern warrior, go southwest with northern warrior, and use the other as mp. I leave the next ruler with 6 cities. Watch happiness when a city grows. Try not to let any go into to disorder.

well, i have much trouble with screenshots, and i find that early reports are dull if u say everything that happens, so i gave a brief summary. i know i need to work on the detailedness of my reports, but next time i will try to make it longer.

Turn 1- zzz

Turn 8- settler finished in istanbul. Rome established an embassy with us. They're pretty far to the south.

Turn 9- trying to expand southwest/west first so we can get land before egypt.

Turn 10- zzz

Turn 11- zzz

Turn 12- zzz

Turn 13- founded Aydin.

Turn 14- discovered alphabet, start on mathematics at min sci.

Turn 15- zzz

Turn 16-zzz

Turn 17- zzz

Turn 18- Antalya founded.

Turn 19- zzz

Turn 20- Settler ready to be founded next turn. Found silks to the south.

Notes

The settler/warrior pair south of edrine is where i was gonna found them but the next guy can change if u want.

The settler on the road just north of edrine i planned on settling right next to the silks where the warrior is standing.

probably a good idea to get a temple up early at antalya so its culturally strong since its likely to be somewhat surrouned by egypt.

You should post a save.

lurker comment: I'm wondering why you irrigated both of Istanbul's cows. If you don't work any 1 food tiles (which seems unlikely to me), you are not going to benefit from the 6th food.
The distance between Istanbul and Uskudar also seems a bit too big: you might want to found a city that uses the unused tiles between them as well as one of the cows: One more worker factory to provide needed population for slowly growing cities later :) Another think you could reconsider are the build orders in some of your cities -temples are just extremely expensive for non-religious civs -warriors will do the same job for happiness and workers will quickly improve your production+income. You still have the cheap libraries for culture.
great start you have here, good luck....back to lurker mode now:)

Yeah i havent thought about that. If the next player wants to wait on some of the temples and use libraries instead thats up to them. I really big though on getting early culture so i would still leave some of them especially border cities like Antalya. The other things about micromangaing Istanbul's cows are up to the TriviAI aswell. I wouldn't build a city between Asukdar and Istanbul at the time but i HATE overlap.

Remember that you only have to worry about overlap once you get hospitals, and until then you are wasting lots of tiles close to the capitol unless you build a little denser. Most games are already won or lost by the time Hospitals roll around, so it usually makes more sense to build a little denser. I understand the aesthetic pleasantness of having non-overlapping citiies, but it really isn't the most efficient.

I do understand that, but the hard part is getting myself to do it. I guess it is just one of those things that gets on my nervs. I will try to get better about that. Also, I will be out of town Thursday-Sunday so if my turn comes up, just skip me.

i was simply building temples to invest some shields. i hate to build reg. units, and i didnt want to build all baracks. feel free to change the build order at will. btw, we still need one more player and either snaproll or Trivial is up.

It's 11:00am UK time now - I'm at work until 6:00pm (with not much to do today...) and can take it home and play, post tommorrow. Snaproll, if you can fit your turns in and post it back before 6:00 then you're welcome to, otherwise I'll post a got it and take it home....

My thoughts would be:

To get a lot of workers out from our outlying cities, we probably want around 1 per city with our industrious nature. Top priority for me would be a road network, which looks well on the way. Reckon a city or two with good production and barracks should start churning out vet spearmen for defense, then warriors/horsemen/chariots for any early war with Egypt.

As for Istanbul, I would be inclined to let it grow, so we can make 4 turn settlers going from size 4-6. I would either mine one of the cattle or leave both irrigated & mine the iron hill. Either way will leave us at +5 food.

Not sure about a city between Uskandur and Istanbul, there are 6 tiles going to 'waste', but a city that used them all would overlap far too much for my liking. However, I do think we need one somewhere in the region to claim the horses on the hill.

My top priorities citywise would be something near Ayadin to try and claim the cow and the wheat before the Egyptians get to them. Also the lux to the south of that would be nice and would present a culture 'wall' to egypt.

Edit: We playing 20 turns for the first rotation?

I'm available to fill the last spot on your roster.

You might want to dedicate one city to provide the defense for the entire civ. I' d want some spears to the west before the charriots arrive. The screen shot also only has 3 workers. I learned that worker action/tile usage is the greatest advantage the human has over the AI so get that settler factory up quickly.
