Borderlands

I haven't tried multiplayer yet. Seems like multiplayer will need a patch although it's still possible, apparently. Anyway. My Steam name is Rubrum. Apart from that, I think it uses Gamespy (DOH) or something similar anyway.

If I play multiplayer, I'll definitely want to play it with non-retards, since it has free-for-all loot system. Non-retards are usually easier to find on this forum. So anyone can give a shout.

I finished the game as level 36 Brick and I must say that I'm not impressed by the game. It gets repetitive very quickly

Already? I've been playing co-op with my girlfriend through LAN and we're having fun but we sure aren't that far in. Try a second playthrough to get better loot. If you're not into the random guns and loot thing, I could see that being a problem. I giggle when I get a gun that has both a pistol handle and a stock.

I know its a fairly old game, but i'm usually low on funds.

So, CFC, i have a 2part question- hows the single player component of the game? And does anyone here have it on the PS3? Its on sale on the PS Store with all DLC.

Its not very old. Anyway, the singleplayer is the same as the multiplayer co-op and its decent by yourself but the game really is best when played with friends, several of us have it on the PC/Steam.

I don't presently have a comp for Borderlands, and the coop isn't crossplatform. Does anyone here have it on PS3?

I only have it on Xbox, sorry. And all my characters got deleted so I haven't gone back to the game since then. It was a lot of fun at the time I was playing, but we had a pretty good crew of players so I rarely ever did anything solo, almost all my time was with at least one other person in co-op, if not a full party. I'd still recommend the game assuming you can get it on sale or a reduced price nowadays.

I have a (modded) version on the Xbox that I could play with anyone.

I concur with PrinceScamp here. Its perfectly fine to play solo, but doing it co-op signficantly increases the difficulty and drop rewards for things you kill. If you want the really nice random drops play co-op if you can.

Ah, what the hell, i'll buy it. Any recommendations on who to play as?

To whom it may concern, my PSN is the same as my Gamertag, SteamID, and my user name. :)

The sniper has a great ability on his tree to ignore shields, Lilith has a sweet special power that makes you run faster and invisible which can help in sticky situations and has a bonus to elemental weapons. Brick does better with melee and explosives and the soldier guy has a turret he can place and I don't know what his skill tree is like (I've only played as sniper and Lilith).

I think the soldier is good. One of the class mods allow you to regenerate ammo, which is pretty handy :p

Right, after many hours the game has downloaded and been installed. Now for all the DLC, which, when combined, are bigger than the game inself. :crazyeye:

Not counting Moxxie's which doesn't really add much, the claptrap revolution is probably weakest of the expansions. I didn't feel it deviated enough from the original, and it's just "more of the same". The Zombie island and Knoxx are much better and they both have a distinct difference in style and fresh feel to them.

Mordecai is rather versatile despite being "sniper" depending on how you build him.
Lilith is almost pure DPS character and almost all the skills support that.
Roland I haven't played myself, but have played with in multiplayer and he is a support/healer character. Rather good DPS depending on the build.
Brick is the tank character and his skill makes him almost invincible if you don't over do it.

I've played a bit. The Moxxie DLC is rather pointless and repetitive, although it DOES have a bank and since its the smallest download, it was worth the time I spent DLing it (although not the $10 it would cost to purchase it seperately).

Rheinmetall is right about the other DLCs- ZI was pretty cool, and SA looks different, but NRR looks a lot like more of the same. The environments (so far) look like New Haven. Should I write an overall review for the game in the reviews thread? Not done yet though.

The Moxxie DLC was the only one I didn't get. I completed ZI and SA but I didn't get round to completing NRR, which I didn't find to bad, I just got bored of the game entirely.

how does multiplayer work?
is there a kind of lobby where you can find and enter a game with players on your level or do you have to premeditate a game with others?

Theres a lobby that shows everyone who is up to your point in the story or before.
