Borderlands

any chance of finding players if you start a new character? :)

There's usually a few low level rooms available.

Note that this is my experience on the ps3, and theres no crossplatform, so i dont know what its like for the 360 or Steam.

That being said, the quality of random matches varies wildly.

I tried a few times and found it quite easy to find a fresh game, depending a bit on what time it is. Just hit refresh until one pops up.

The problem for me wasn't finding a game, but a game to continue where I left off. If there's problem with a new game (eg a high level joining or people being greedy) I'd just start a new character and start from scratch. That don't work well when sticking to one character, I'd go up a level in a bad game, leave it and try another, go up another level without any real progress, try again and so on.

Still a good game though. I love the speek.:)

It's always the main problem with this type of game (hack and slash action RPGs like Diablo and its clones, or Borderlands in this case). I tried to avoid it by playing with friends only and creating characters that are meant to evolve together. But then it seems only half of them are nice enough to actually be disciplined and not play their characters when we're not playing together.

"- Oh hai let's play our characters now!
- Well since we last played last week-end I didn,t want to create other characters so I played with my dude and now he's 20 levels ahead of yours is that okay?
- *grumble*"

Just finished this, loved it. I don't know what it is about finding random guns but it is addictive as hell to constantly search for and find the next best weapon. After finishing the main quest (with maybe 2 or 3 side quests I never bothered with) is there anything else to do? 1 additional scavenger hunt popped up after I finished the main quest but that's it. Any easter eggs?
Spoiler :
Does anything in the world change once you've killed The Destroyer?

Also, does anything change up in the 2nd playthrough or is it basically the same? (Aside from the difference you can get from using a different character.)

If I'm honest, I didn't really like the masses of guns, because you don't grow attached to certain guns like in other games. For example, in New Vegas I grew really attached to the Anti-Materiel Rifle and absolutely loved it, but with Borderlands I don't think they had that same uniqueness.

Hmm, I definitely got attached to certain guns, especially ones bosses dropped, and I would sometimes go on for ages forgetting that I picked up a much better one and had it sitting in my inventory.

I think this will be one of the few games I give a second go.

Fair enough, it just didn't happen for me like in other games.

I had a particular shotgun that helped me survive in a zone i was severely underleveled for. I used it so much, and it helped me level quite a few times, so it earned a place of honor in my inventory.

I actually was really looking forward to this game before it came out. I wasn't too disappointed, in general it did answer my expectations pretty well, especially when playing coop.

Still, I had higher expectations in terms of how much variety there would be in guns. There was a lot of variety but it wasn't as noticeable in terms of looks and effects as I had hoped. But it was still pretty good. Borderlands 2 is on the way and I'm definitely gonna check it out.

I got attached to specific kinds of guns, or well weapons with a specific bonus. Like revolvers with the scatter shot, or fire weapons

I found that certain guns tend to last a long time, such as a shotgun that lasted me 10 levels. The DLC is fantastic, with Zombie Island, and The Secret Armory of General Knoxx being the best

The game, surprisingly lived up to my expectations too. I had to set my original expectations lower though. For some reason, when I read about Borderlands back in '07 or '08 in a Game Informer magazine, I had trouble believing that they were going to have procedurally generated environments. Sucks that I was right about it though. Also, apparently, there was going to be some melee weapons but that quickly got scrapped it seems.

Sledge's shotgun lasted me forever. Skag and Spiderant killing machine. Also Krom's Repeater stayed useful all the way to the end.

I enjoyed this a lot for a playthrough. I played primarily as a sniper and when I found the Volcano (A Maliwan sniper rifle) I fell in love. :)
