Stop! If you are participating in BOTM 111, then you MUST NOT read this thread unless EITHER
  • You have reached at least 1 AD in your game, OR
  • You have submitted your entry

Use this thread to tell us what happened in your game, up to 1AD! Have you met all of us staff yet? Did you attack any of us? And if so, are you brave enough to admit it? Where did you settle?

Posting Restrictions

  • Please do not disclose ANY events or information gained post 1 AD.
  • Please do not reveal your final result if that happened after 1 AD.
  • Please do not discuss the location of resources that may not show up before 1 AD. (Iron is OK, coal and oil are not)
  • Do not post any savegame file from the game. Discussions and screenshots are fine but not actual games

neilmeister attacked me, which was unwise. Yes I met all the staff, but am pretty sure my plan of signing a PA with kcd_swede for victory has been destroyed by DynamicSpirit, because you teamed kcd_swede with Humbaba, which I am pretty sure means a PA with him/them is not possible. (someone corect me if I am wrong)

Thus, from here on out I will destroy the DynamicSpirit empire and gift all the cities to kcd_swede. Just because.:p

I'm sorry, neilmeister, but you had to go.

I'm sorry, DynamicSpirit, but you had to give up three cities on the continent (even if I still don't know where you hid the others, I really hope it's not reachable by Astronomy only, but I'm keeping the war ongoing for the possibility of eventual vassaling).

Axes/War Chariots + Catapults did the job for both of you. After the warning words in the pre-game thread I was overly cautious, and upon checking demographics on the first turn and seeing some parties with more than their usual power I resolved not to war before Writing so I could see what I was up against. Strangely enough, neither neilmeister nor DynamicSpirit had anything special, so a War Chariot rush for both of them would have been a better play.

As it was, I instead settled 4 more cities and made the Great Lighthouse (because of high sea level), and only attacked after construction. Now with 12 cities at 1AD it's starting to look decent. I still haven't discovered what Humbaba/kcd_swede got in their cities, but their power isn't much higher than mine anymore so I'm planning for Trebs + Maces for them (though it will be very slow with big stacks and one-movers). Hope to still Lib Military Tradition so I can use Cuirs for faster conquest of the rest.

This is a great game!

I settled in place, which seems to be a good location. My later cities weren't so optimal, two of which turned out to be on top of horse and iron.

Although I met most of the staff earlier than expected (the first turn, AlanH!?) there's one I still haven't met by 1 AD.

Although I had thoughts at the start of the game of trying for a religious victory, I've ended up on my usual, slow domination/conquest track. I've settled five cities and in the war that I started against neilmeister in 350 BC, I've captured one city and razed another. I completed the Oracle for Metal Casting (I was afraid of losing it to one of the staff if I waited for CS) and I have the Colossus.

I'm sorry, neilmeister, but you had to go.

I agree!

My plans at 1AD are not as advanced, but DynamicSpirit and my namesake are destined to be gone soon enough. The invasion of the Heavenly Empire is going well with Cats/Maces, though I now feel that perhaps I should have rushed with War Chariots.

Anyway.... onwards!

It's been pretty much a disaster up to now.

This turn kcd_swede declares on Deckhand!
 WTH? two turns ago you demanded wine from me - and I gave it to you. We should be at peace.
Oh, that Deckhand (I'm Little GOTM Player).

I have War Chariots - I should be able to rush someone, right?
Skipping the details - all I got from war with neilmeister was a captured worker.
Did a little better vs Dynamic_Spirit. Captured Bombay (gold, gems, rice) and a 1 tile city that autorazed. Decided my war chariots couldn't handle his hill defense archers in Delhi. And made peace.

Now 1AD, I am back - this time with Catapults. Declaring after I post this.

4 cities: 9,10,8,4 pop see screenshot
Also missed Oracleing CS by 4 turns.

I was considering giving Deckhand enough cities to win by Domination. And I'd get a green ambulance. But thanks kcd for reminding me and thanks DS for the possibility - new plan is form PA with Deckhand. And we can both win. But I fear kcd & humbaba will kill him.

It seems this game is making it hard for you to maintain a stable identity. Be careful that you still know who you are afterwards

How many War Chariots did you rush with? In hindsight I thought it would have been the perfect thing to do, but maybe I was too optimistic about their power.
