All visible fallout gone. Of course my river hill was the last fallout to leave my BFC. Also had two barb galleys spawn.

4 cities 16 pop 😱
71bpt @100% -23gpt
Oracle (MC), GLH
Actually wasn’t in a huge hurry to REX because I wanted to get those two wonders and not have to worry about Barb invasions.

Stopped teching after IW, waiting for the chance to build some libraries. Now finally focusing on expansion and avoiding barb galleys. 🙄

Ramesses II is Buddhist and after random spread so am I.

5 cities, 17 pop, with one of the cities on the nearest island in the south. No Wonders. :( But I just started researching MC with the aim of building the Colossus. Has anybody ever done a quantitative study of GLH vs Colossus? The former generally provides smaller :commerce: benefits but they last longer (obsolete with SciMeth vs Astronomy).

Poor man's game. Inclined to name all my cities as Poverty Point :crazyeye:
5 cities, 13 pop, no wonders, having missed GLH by 1 turn, when could have easily whipped it the turn before :hammer2:
I usually value GLH (obsolete with Corporation) higher than Colossus, but agree it is situational.
2 turns to Alpha.
No religion in our continent yet.

GLH>Colossus because it enables more serious REX as long as you have enough trade routes with AIs or your own island cities.

Colossus is particularly good if you don’t need astronomy and you’re financial because other than the Faetoria for Joao, it’s the only way to get the two-coin bonus on the fat cross of your ocean tiles that I know of.

Well, by comparison it seems I'm having a marvellous game here with 7 cities and 18 pop! I settled NW on the plains hill, did you all also settle there? I managed to get Stonehenge and the Great Lighthouse, at least hammerwise Madrid is quite okay. Two settlers are nearly done, I'm hoping to be on time to get the gems towards Egypt and then will start colonizing the islands to the south to get some leverage from the GLH. Ramesses is the buddhist and he seems to start sending missionaries to my turf, so that will be nice for some extra happy. I teched alpha and am some turns away from currency.

After reading that the fallout would disappear rapidly (thanks to @LowtherCastle) I decided (like @nocho) to settle NW in order to get a WB out faster and expecting the health problems to dissipate fast. Went for BW and then Sailing to get some lighthouses built including the GLH and expanded early onto the islands in the south. @1AD my stats are 7 cities / 30 pop. Most expensive techs done are Monarchy and CoL. I have a settler out running for the gems.

Ramesses and Genghis seem to be backward as well compared to a normal game and I assume they have similar poor land as we have. Genghis is plotting war, but fortunately it seems like there is a choke point at the gems city where I can stop him if he's going for me.

I like the map and was thinking of old movies like Mad Max, Water World and even Dune (when I found the spice tiles). The game should definitely be winnable. I expect the AI to be much worse at adjusting to an unusual map.

I SIP and went Mining->BW hoping NZ was nice and gave us copper. No dice. I lost 2 early warriors to barb lions, both at about 20% odds. Then I lost a galley and an exploring wb. So my knowledge of our continent is fairly sparse because barb archers started to show up and I didn't feel safe sending out a warrior explorer after losing 2 already. I've built several axes and swords since then and my part of the continent is now safe. I have an exploring galley (which isn't really that safe) and a chariot is almost done to explore the north. We are all heathens at the moment so no luck with religion.

At 1AD I have 5 cities, 19 pops, 69b -33g at 100% slider and 34b sustainable at 50%. I have settled 2 islands to the south and have a settler ready to claim a third island in a couple turns.

I have Currency and Alphabet and I'm almost done with MC. The Oracle went early in my game so I set my sights on the GLH. I'm about 4 turns away from it and I'm guessing I could lose it at any moment which would be painful. Once MC is in I will likely also build the Colossus since I'm working so many water tiles.

The land is so bad that this game is going to be a long slog for any victory condition. Limited food. Limited happiness. Limited production. I'm not sure if I'll have the energy to finish this one... :(

I lost the starting settler at BC3960. :hammer2:It was not even recorded in any log...Nothing significant.

edit:
The event log did record this loss, but only kept for 2 turns. Then the record was erased as if nothing had ever happened.

When I moved my warrior west, there was a barb animal (lion, I think) there on T2 or T3. I guess NZ put it there to keep us from wandering too far with the settler... It was way earlier than barb animals normally show up.

I'm not *that* cruel or evil lol, I think it's a side effect of other changes I made.

I thought the description would be enough to ensure you stayed at the (relative) paradise you had at the start but clearly not lol.

Wow. That’s shocking and frustrating, I would imagine. You weren’t even afforded the opportunity to rage quit… 😱

I am not a code diver, but I’m fairly certain from testing that barb Animals will not start auto-appearing before the human player settles his first city. I tested that before the BOTM involving that gloryland island that was inaccessible to our starting settler. I safely walked my settler for something like 18 turns before settling in that game. And for something like nine turns in that fantasy realm map in which we started on a galley in the center of the map and had four quadrants to select from for settling.

In my game barb galleys started spawning at a surprisingly high rate, and this continued through the game. For a moment I wondered if there was a "raging galleys" setting :crazyeye:, but I guess it's more likely a result of @Noble Zarkon's tinkering :scan:
Same thing in my game. I saw barb galleys very early and lost 2 exploring work boats and a couple of exploring galleys (at lowish odds) early in the game. After that, I used galleys and later caravels to spawn bust my entire area.

He created spawning locations less likely to be spawnbusted. 😉

That would explain things. Haven't explored all of the northern islands yet.

I also saw strange behaviour of the AP votes. Seemed like the votes were not counted properly. But his happened after 1AD so I better not talk about it here.
