Sorry for the wall of text; I'll try to edit it into something more readable when I get the chance:
4000BC: Scout moves north-*east*, to look for a reason not to settle 1W. It doesn't find one.
3960BC: I settle on the western hill. It turns out there was fur to the east. Bummer. I grow on the pigs.
The scout explores the southeastern coast.
3720BC/t7: I meet Justinian, and see a spot to box him in. I will do this if I possibly can - City 2 will be by the clams, wine and oasis.
3680BC: Work Boat is started. There aren't any turns to be saved by switching to minimum food for growth, so I'll keep the +2 food.
3440BC: I build the fishing nets. 1h left to complete the Warrior, and then the Worker is next.
3120BC/t22: The Worker and Bronze Working are both done. One more workboat (one chop) while growing to size 3, then a Settler.
2960BC/t26: Growth to size 3, and the 2nd work boat nets the crabs. The warrior moves into position to escort the settler, and I'll put one turn on Fish/Crab/River to get AH one turn sooner.
t30: AH is in, and I start to pasture the pigs. Justinian has Horses. We don't, at least not anywhere I want to settle soon. Maybe as city #5 or #6, giving a very dense settling pattern.
t38: Gondar is founded, between the clams and the wine.
t43: Writing is in. Sailing next - in the ideal world I could do everything, in my list of priorities, wonders come after securing ReX and Research for now. I'll pick up whichever of the Great Lighthouse, Pyramids and Oracle is still available at a late-ish date.
t47: Revolt to Slavery, as the settler walks to a gold-corn site.
t49: Lalibela is founded, NE of the floodplains, taking in Gold and Corn.
t50: So far, I have Mining, Agr, Wheel, Fishing, Hunting, Bronze Working, Animal Husbandry, Writing, and 108/156 beakers in Sailing (6 gold left, so it'll take 3 turns rather than 2).
t52: The fourth settler is finished in Aksum, and walks to found the Fur-Fish city.
t59: Masonry is done. Mathematics next. Gold-Corn city whips a Library - I plan to grow this to pop5 ASAP. I want to magic another Worker out of nowhere in time for Maths - currently I have just three (two at gold city connecting it up; one at fur) - so that I can improve Aksum enough to make GLighthouse a possibility.
t70: The first Maths-boosted chop is done.
t72: I am now certain of the Great Lighthouse, so it's time to fill out my coastal spots. There are two seafood spots to the east to settle, and also my horse-pig city needs to be founded.
t75: 4 cities, two settlers nearly finished. Stop here to plan for a bit.
Here's the plan: My research is starting to kick off, so now I need to ramp up my production capability. The cities with food+hills will grow into them, and I'll build workers to mine them, so that I can build an army once I have the tech+resources for it.
I haven't done enough exploring to merit researching Alphabet, but I'll put that right ASAP.
Justinian has already built the Great Wall. I'll see if he'll build the Pyramids for me too.
t93: I shouldn't have waited so long for Alphabet - I'd already met everyone on the continent. I trade around now, picking up Iron Working, and have also filled out my culture area so I can OB with Justinian.
t94: Justinian's wonderlust leaves me no choice but to bury him under those Pyramids he's just built

t99: I'm almost ready to DoW Justinian, and I meet Huayna and Pacal! The Great Wall does look quite pathetic, with a total length of 3 tiles, split into two sections.
t103: I DoW Justinian. Stalin has a stack on the move, but I've got a scout watching it and will be ready if it's coming for me.
t105: Stalin declares war on Korea. I hope this is a "softening Wang up" kind of war (and I can't believe I just said that

) and not an exercise in promoting Protective Archers.
1AD: 9 cities, 125bpt at breakeven (50%), 95 hammers/turn. Techs up to CoL, Currency, Machinery. Justinian destroyed, and Wang will be next - but he has Philo so I'll extort that from him after taking him down a few notches. I don't really feel I've played very well so far, but I'll still be interested to see how others do.
I've got a lot of researching to do to get to Sushi, but my next goal in particular will be Compass-Optics, so I can circumnavigate, find the last opponent, and get the +1 movement bonus to make invading the east easier.
