It's rare that I can't find what I need using StartPage. And if I can't, I just open up IE or Safari and google it. Then past the result into my normal browser. It's not a big deal for me, but then again I'm not agoogling several times an hour.

Another question on this:

Do any of the other search-engines provide regularly any sizable number of hits you have not been able to readily locate by using google?

I ask cause google most likely is english-centered, while i would want to search for some stuff on local sites about Greek literature etc.

I'd suggest you simply try them all out. DuckDuckGo never saves unique identifiable search terms, so its algorithms is "Daily Me" proof as well. Doesn't Greece have a search engine with special support for Greek characters?

There are tens of Greek search engines. I tried some. Which is why i am asking for non-Greek ones :/

It's an extensive online library of Classic resources. My Ancient Greek professor was one of the contributors, back before the internet was public access.

I mostly meant sites about contemporary lit here, though, since my humble end was to just see my name a few more times in this microcosm.

Google has a different database for each foreign language. I don't know how to switch back and forth though, but you can google it.

I don't like the way facebook has been so stealthy about it's privacy rollbacks.

This - and the just plain we hate privacy attitude of FB - is why I cancelled my FB account. Not that I image the data is actually gone. But at least now only the NSA and other top-dog snoops can look through it, not just anyone with a smidgeon of computer savvy.
