Win98
Lycoris linux
Gigabyte GA 7N400 Pro Mother board (on board lan 6chan audio, usb2.0 sata raid, fire wire etc)
40 gig 7200 rpm Western Digital 8MB cache hd

I have..

Celeron 533mhz,
256Mb ram
Radeon 8500 64mb graphics card
60Gb HD 7200rpm 2mb cache
17inch Sony Trinitron Monitor

When the Athlon 64, pci-express and ddr2 are all together(probably around May next year) ill probably upgrade.

My Civ PC looks like this:
PII 350 Mhz
192 Mb RAM
6.4 + 40 Gb HDD
ATI Rage Pro 8Mb + Voodoo II 12 Mb
SB 128
DVD

It's almost five years old, but it's working smoothly.

My other machine is a P4 2Gb, 512 SDRAM, 2x120Gb HDD, GeForce4 (128), DVD-RW and lots of fancy stuff, but I haven't been able to use it much. My kids very soon turned it into their own CS machine...

It was of course embarrassing at first, but now I don't care any longer. In just a few days I'll get my brand new laptop: 2.4 Gb P4, at least 512 DDR and all the stuff you need. I won't let my kids touch that one, that's for sure!

2.2GHz Athlon Proccessor.
512MB RAM
dvd drive
cd - rw
17" Phillips monitor
40GB HDD. (plenty big enough, as i put a lot of stuff onto cd. (films music etc...))
1mb/s ethernet.
Ge Force 2 graphics (wanting to upgrade up to 4)
on board sound. (not too shabby.)
576 up 288 down ADSL

soz, dont know the motherboard name.

a reasonable spec PC comparing to others....

Edit: OS: XP

My comp used to be top of the line... :(

HP Pavillion XT958
1.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4
80 GB HD
512 RAM
48x HP CD-RW
16x Toshiba DVD Rom
Linksys Wireless Router connected to Cable Modem
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 200
Windows XP Home

Coolermaster case
Manually adjustable processor cooler fan
Thermalright processor cooler
Round cables

... and all the other stuff with naturally shorter lifecycle than the real "hard" ware is simply replaced in case of need. ;)

Well, my computer's hard drive cached and uncahced speeds are pretty low, which according to PCPitstop.com is very bad. My upload bandwith speed is also low too (138 kps). I have a 20GB hard drive, pretty small compared to people's 60GB and 120GB drives. And my computer doesn't have a CD burner either, so if I lose anything, I lose ten months' worth of work.

my new pc:

K7S AV-L motherboard.
3000+AMD cpu,
1 gig RAM.
FX5600XT GPU,
160 HDD space.

want another one now too!

6 USB ports

And a 17" monitor

And, as for the operating system(s), it multi-boots among all of the following:

FreeBSD 5.3
Mandrake Linux 9.2
Mepis Linux
CollegeLinux 2.5
Slackware Linux 9.1
Ubuntu Linux
Suse Linux 9.1

And, I have a partition carved out to add Damn Small Linux, but I haven't had the time lately to install it (final exams are a pain...)

Don't do that. Purchase either a DVD burner for $60, or at least get a DVD ROM. They are cheaper than you'd think :)

I bought my machine over 2 years ago, October 2002, had it built for me at my local University. 2 years ago, this was a nice Computer. Now, well . . .

AMD Athlon 1.7 Ghz
756 Mb Ram
200 Gig HD
64Mb GeForce Video
CVC/CD/CDRW
17" Monitor
Mouse, Speakers, etc.

2 years ago, this was a good Computer. Not anymore. It worked fine until a couple months ago, now i need to re-format and re-install. Too many months of Kazaa and Imesh. BTW, i still have the original sales receipt. I'm such a packrat.
