Brag about your comp here

Mine's quite nice... and new. :)

PowerPC G4 1.07GHz, 512Kt L2 cache
40GB HD
256 built-in, 256 DDR SDRAM memory
12" screen that displays a 1024x768 resolution(yeah, it's a laptop)
CD-RW / DVD (Combodrive)
2x USB2, 1x FireWire
Inbuilt modem
Mac OS X 10.3.6 Panther

And all packed in an awesome white package.

And there aren't any viruses nor spyware that would attack this beauty. :smug:

I can brag, differently :)

I used to build my computers and was very well informed about the components, knowledge I gained from reading many official white papers.

Most chipsets were known to me. I studied their bandwidth, command depth, latency, and so forth. Each components was pretty much hand picked, and the end results were +20% faster than comparible systems designed by reputable names dedicated to performance.

That was before overclocking, which I also persued avidly.

Those computers are now very old and low-spec by today's standards, but they still punch above their weight, which is a credit to the effort originally put into them :)

yeah. i custom build my own also.

i got uv and cathod lighting and a custom side window. :goodjob:

but also it's a lot cheaper, and u can make sure u only put quality. (or at least semi-high quality componants. [stupid student buget]) none of this on board gfx's B/S.

Well, my desktop PC needs alot of upgrading...it used to be top-notch...

1. P4 1.6 Ghz processor.
2. 512 Mb RDRAM.
3. 250 + 40 GB hard-disks.
4. Tv Card.
5. Geforce Gainward 128 Mb Graphics Card (sucks!!!)
6. Top not DVD/CD players and burners.
7. Wireless network card.
8. 21 inch monitor bwahahaha!
9. Loads of other junk.

My laptop is a P4 2.6 Ghz, 512 Mb Ram, 128 MB graphics card, 40 GB Hard-disk...but it is very heavy :(

Used to have an old one but now I've got a new one (a few months ago.) 2.8 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 150 GB Hard Drive, CD Burn/DVD Rom, 15 inch flat monitor, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200, Sound Blaster Live 24-bit, Windows XP.

I posted summer last year with my old spec... ill update now..

Athlon 64 3200+ (S754)
Asus K8n-E Deluxe Mobo (Nforce 3 250Gb chipset)
1 Gb of Corsair DDR 400, 2x512mb- (2-3-3-6)
Radeon 8500 64mb DDR
NEC 3500A DVD-RW- Silver
Toshiba DVD-ROM 16x- Silver
250mb Zip drive
Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9, 60Gb, 7200rpm, 2mb Hard Drive
Floppy disk- Silver
CoolerMaster Praetorian Aluminium Case - Silver
17" Sony Trinitron Monitor - Silver ;)

I might be going for a 256mb Geforce 6800 GT/Radeon X800 XL(when agp version is available) and maybe a WD Raptor HD soon... although they are a bit noisy and they are limited in size... The WD Caviar HD looks like a good alternative.

Might as well make an update...

Me, I have nothing to brag about. I have a 2-year-old comp that looks like it's two years even older. The original specs had 128MB RAM, CD (not RW!) drive, floppy drive, 1.3 GhZ processor speed. Two years later - I have 128MB more RAM, but everything else is still the same. And I can only go up to 512MB (but I'll have to buy 2 256 sticks). But that's not too irksome - the most irksome thing is the lack of a CD burner.

Nice. Very nice. I'm thinking of buying one of those new ATI X850XT's next year, perhaps. If not, I might go with a regular X800Pro. :)

They're going to stop development of AGP cards pretty soon, though, cause PCI-e is taking over completely. Poor us that don't have those gizmos.

I give them a year or so. PCI-E AMD motherboards are about to reach the market (I haven't seen anyone yet) and they'll have to be fairly common before AGP is phased out.

I think starting a new thread is justified in a subject like this(bragging about comp spec).

This is not be described as bragging... :p

Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo 600a
AMD Athlon 64 3400+
1024 MB DDT RAM
2x250 GB HDD 7200 rpm
CD and DVD burner.

I'm at work, don't know any other facts by heart.. Not really intrested in what's in there as long as it's working properly. :)

Intel Celeron @ 2800 MHz
256 DDR memory
80 Gb HDD
CD RW 52x24x52
weaker video card (GeForce 4 with 64 Mb VRAM)
19" monitor

I know the parts well, as it was built with a specific purpose in mind.

P4 2ghz Northwood cpu
A-Bit BE-7 RAID mobo
Hercules Radeon 9000 128DDR gfx card
1gig DDR2700 RAM
WD Caviar 80GB 7200 8MB cache HDD
Maxtor 40GB 7200 HDD (x2)
Lite-on 52x CD-writer
Pioneer 106 DVD-writer
Antec P160 Aluminum case
Antec TruePower 480W PSU

It was decent enough when I built it, but it's a bit old now.

how much of that space do you currently use?
We had our old comp for about a three years and it only filled up abotu 20 Gigs of space. 200 in my Opinion is just a bit over kill ;) I feel that comps that with that much space are really only that high for bragging rights.
cause the normal person will never use up that much space before they go buy a new comp ;)

Its more for people who do video editing on their computer which taks up tons of space.

*prepares to be flamed*

why would u want any other OS than a Microsoft XP Pro? ;-P

Pah I got machine smaller then all those goddamn pieces of crap that processes things millions of times as fast and comes in a much more handsome case.

You ain't got nothin' on me!

Ooh, here's one from a dusty corner..

AMD AM386SX CPU @ 25MHz (I never figured out how to o/c that)
Math-Co external FPU
8Mb (4x 2Mb 30-pin SIMMs) Fast Page Memory?
VSLI core-logic
ISA HDD controller
ISA PC Chips SVGA card 512Kb
ISA NIC
IDE 250Mb HDD
AT Keyboard & Serial Mouse

AT&T UNIX, Windows NT. Hooyah!
Will play Super Mario Bros, Tanks Wars, Trolls, Battlechess, and more..

Just think, a bundle like that once fetched in excess of $2000
