Brazil discussion thread

I used Villa Lobos as a theme for my graduation, classy stuff.

Talking about classy, look at Pedro II! I though he would be just sitting in botanic gardens, though. But I admit, the choice of a leader couldn't be better.

And the choice of UU is good too.

The only puzzling one is the UI. Granted, it's pretty hard to think about unique stuff for Brazil, but I would definitely put a second UU as bandeirantes, replacing a musketman with more sight, woodsman promotion and/or increased movement.

And bandeirantes were pretty typical of Brazil. A good bunch of bandeirantes were caboclos (a mix of white men and indigenous people).

But now I think that what's done is done.

As in a Brazilian Minuteman? :D

Yep, looks like a ctrl c + ctrl v. My point is to make the Bandeirantes an exploratory unit. Or maybe make him conquest units in a similar way the privateer does.

Anyway, I think that, by now, Bandeirantes is simply out of the game.

I was thinking, when we play against Brazil, the basic extrategia will conquer him until the industrial era (surely he will not have a military focus, and then it is too big a chance to win it culturally with carnivals)... I predict that we will see repeatedly the scene of D. Pedro defeated...

I wonder if the UI improves further. Like, more then +1 gold & culture.

Trading posts, for example, can wield 3 gold and 1 research, given the correct techs and policies. Arguably a better bonus than wood camp.

I seldom see the AI winning a cultural victory, but yes, especially when it's against a human player, I'll definitely try to do that. Brazil will probably be too much of a threat in the late game.

(a Maria há-de derrotar umas quantas vezes o seu neto - acho que Dom Pedro II é neto de Maria :D )

Culture is hard to get... And culture from improvements can yield tourism (even harder to get)

Bisneto :goodjob:

Do you guys think that the Brazilian IA will build Tall or Wide?

Historically, I think a Wide empire would make more sense. But in game, a Tall empire would be better for a culture victory, which is the brazilian focus in the game.

With the changes in cultural victory I'm not so sure culture will favor tall players more. Real life Brazil is certainly "wide".

Hello! All the focus of Brasil in tourism will help get the culture Victory , of course , but do it help in a diplomacy win too? If we have a great tourism rate against other civ with same ideology they will vote in our resolutions in The Word Congress?

Spoiler :
Perdão, que estupidez claro, foi um typo. Neto foi Dom Pedro. :D

Sorry, of course you're right, it was a typo. Dom Pedro I was the grandson of Maria.

What do you think of these manifestations in Brazil? (For we do not leave the subject of the game, which would be the similarities to the revolt system in BNW?)

That's what happens when you don't build Chichen Itza + Taj Mahal to warrant a perpetual Carnival... and stadium's happiness seems to be a bit nerfed nowadays ;)

But seriously, people should ask for pragmatic, viable changes. I don't think that free public transportation in a city like São Paulo is something possible. Also, I don't think the country has anything to gain with the World Cup cancellation. The stadiums are built, our money is gone, the best we can hope for is some tourist money. Instead, we should just fight for better public services and/or less taxes, and less corruption.

Tourism doesn't seem to give any benefits against civs with the Same ideology.

It does give benefits against a civ with different ideologies though.

The benefit to diplomatic victory for brazil is the extra gold from Golden Ages triggered by their UU(And gold/patronage policies from the UI)

Forcing other civs to your ideology means that you don't need a diplomat to know how they will vote though. (Although you still need one to trade votes)

I would expect the new UI's to get bonuses at certain points. Brazil's will likely be upgraded much like a TP (though getting research from it might be questionable, unless it's a TP replacement while in jungle).

There are currently 3 UI's in the game. The Netherlands have one that gets better with certain techs. I'm not sure about the Inca or Polynesia, since I don't have DLC, but I think I've seen mention that terrace farms get extra food from some techs.

One would imagine that both Brazil and Morocco will likely have their UI getting better at certain points, as well. If not, Brazil has a mediocre UI, and Morocco has a bad one.

I think it's a fairly safe bet to think the brazillwood camps wil gain extra gold as you advance.

The terrace farm gets the same improvements applied at Civil Service as the farm (bonus when near fresh water) and fertilizer (bonus without acess to fresh water.)

Since the terrace farm is treated very similarly to the regular farm, but does not replace it, it seems reasonable to think that the Brazilwood Camp would either get buffed alongside Camps or Trading Posts.
