Bring in the Hebrews

@Masquerouge, dont do that, you scared me half to death ;) . Ill follow your advice though, and search the net a bit.

By the way; what makes you think I wouldnt be able to read in French   .

It seems like Ive been wrong then, everyone keeps saying they were real. I could swear Ive heard someone say they were not though (and not just "anyone", but rather a historian someone :p ). Ill have to do some reading I guess.

Xen: Very... interesting post (I actually didn't read it all), but what's the point? Are we debating unit stats now? ANYONE HAVE ANY MACABEE ART?

Well, it could be any moddified swordman you got off the forums, because I'm too lazy to go to the Unit Graphics forums and look myself :). Oh well, guess I have to. How about Military/Scientific leaders? Should the king be David or Solomon? City lists? Second trait (1st is religious). I could make them seafaring (they parted the red sea), and give them one of the best combinations out there.

Once again. the second trait should be industrious because of the need to build fast. macabee is a great idea. city lists are easily aquirable even from the Bible itself.

Xen: refer to the works of Yosef Flaviy, a book written at the time of the Jewish rebellion against Rome (around 100bc). He was a general and a high priest and his work survived to this day. Jerusalem had over 2 million people inside during holidays. There were about 10 million living in the area of Jerusalem to the Medaterrenean. During the holiday of passover is when rebels closed the gate and kept the population prisoner, for several years until the Romans leveled it after a long battle. At one point right before that it was the second largest city behind Rome and in front of Alexandria.

the western wall of the city (one of 4 walls that had to be broken) was spared by the Emperor as a sign of how great this city once was. Romans were given no choice but to level the city because the Rebels (who broke away from Judea as well as Rome) chose suicide before surrender and forced their choice upon the population. .... just something to consider when you create the mod.

City list: Easy
Military leader: Do-able
Scientific leaders: I NEED HELP!!
Leaderhead: Babilonians?

Well, I could give them Religios, Industrious, and Seafaring, but that would make them sort of over powering...

I modded my Conquest game so that the Sumerians = Ethiopeans and the Hittites = Israel.

I'm curious, what are some good scientific leader names?

first off, I do NOT[/b[ support an isralite civ, though if you are going to mod it in, the least I can do is help set you straight

TRAITS -religious+commercial (occuping a precious land and sea raout for trade, its rather obviuos that the ancient kingdom took advantage of its locatinon, and the friendlly Phoenician traders ot the north)

UU- light infantry type unit, perhaps a horseman replacement with bumped up defence would do as well

scientific leaders- hard to say, take modern Israeli (as opposed to Jewish) scientists for this is my suggestion

Uhg! I downloaded a (non-Macabee) unit to add to this scenario, and I don't know how to set the combat animations. I got lost in the enless link list on the units forum page, and knowone has said anything there for a long while, and I need a reply fast, so:

How do I add a new unit icon (for the qeue, the icon sheet is read only)?
How do I say what that little notepad file with the yellow thingy is (in the edittor) that says the combat animation?

How do I link to that notepad thing, and add the icon?

Thanks in advance.

I would (SGLs), but why don't you support Israel as a civ?

well, I dont think it did enough to be honest..that said, a good deal of civs could be wiped off of the slate in my opinion, with others added to the game- irale is just one more civ in an area that makes Europe look like the wild west of the old world when it comes to wide open spaces

Please help me with this unit! It's really neccesairy for this scenario. Also, I might use the Enkindu Warrior Graphics for the Macabee, and replace the Sumerians, as there are already a lot of Middle Eastern civs.

I had proposed a "Judicious" trait for the Israelites a while ago, it should be somewhere on this forum. If you find it, it will be perfect. I hope they think of it for civ 4.

I really thought they would have been added to conquests, and was disappointed they where not, there unit should be the Merkarva, since this tank was built for fighting in rural areas, it could get a defensive bonus when defending a city?

maybe?

If they were built for fighting in rural areas, then why in the world would they a defensive bonus when defending a city? You might have meant urban areas, but tanks are never designed for urban combat.

Personally, I think a guy with a slingshot would be a better idea - a UU should be something that didn't have an equal on the battlefield. There're tanks out there (LeClerc, Leopard 2, M1A2 Abrams) that are more capable than the Merkava, and would most likely defeat it if they're in the hands of competent operators. :king:

Right, and remember, we're talking about the Kingdom of Israel that was around 2500 years ago, not the present Israel. Thus, Mercava tanks and F-15 fighters shouldn't be UU, but Maccabees with arrows, swords, or slings.

I agree, Hebrews should be included. But dont say "why are arabs included" cause then u only be part of the deadly 'politics" which tries to ruin this game.

Again.. when play the world wasnt out yet, I made the Kurds, Arabs and Hebrews in my mod. So what isnt there, can be made with the editor.

Greetings from a muslim Arab.

well persoanlly, I dont think any of the guys you just listed shoul dbe in (hows that for political correctness ;))

as for a hebrew UU

-use the peltast made by kryten it is an acuuracte depiction of what maccabeab era forces would have looked liem on average, as by then Greek warfare had over come everything else except the rising powe rof the Roman legions
