Don't you mean Independence from the U.S.?
The United States wasn't the only colonial power to hold the Philippines.

---

Interesting scenarios centered around the Philippines (not necessarily with this mod):
- A guerrilla-warfare type scenario where victory for the Filipinos comes with a turn timer (representing the USA coming in); Spanish victory comes when they've wiped out the Filipinos in the hills and jungles. Units are rare for the Filipinos (only from goody hut villages, which won't always be sympathetic), gold is gotten from raiding, and they can buy "weapons" (i.e. the things you get from exp normally)--kinda like the Broken Star scenario. Bonus victory points if you're strong enough to resist the Americans (measured by power, probably) once the scenario ends.
- That's it.

Well, the Philippines wasn't exactly "saved" by the States coming in... it was more like The U.S. was going to help the Philippines revolt is Spain didn't give in to U.S. terms but when Spain gave the Philippines to the States the U.S. decided to kill everyone over 13. Yeah, that's my bastardized nut-shell of the Philippines-American War :crazyeye:

If you're talking about the scenario, that's why I'd give bonus points for being strong enough to be American-resistant. :) The Philippines was sold, yeah, but only because the USA beat up Spain in the Spanish-American War; that gave us the biggest opportunity to be replace foreign oppression with purely local oppression, but the Americans came marching in to claim their prize so poor us.

I am making the Philippenes a civ for my upcoming mod (I am also making a module for the current version) and the UU is going to be the Katipunero. Here is an image of the unit I made for it:

I was just wondering if you were interested in using it, or if you are even around to read this for that matter.

Katipunero are the propagandists in the Philippines who revolted against the occupation of the Kastilas or Spaniards due to the increasing corruption of the Spanish government in Manila. Being a katipunero doesn't mean being a gunman or something, part of the katipuneros used their head to outsmart the Spaniards and part used their strength to fight the Spaniards physically. :)
