[BTS 3.19] Earth 35 Civilizations MOD

Hi There,

Nice map that I would like to test, but I'm wondering what U mean by "merging" some other mods with yours... (I think especially about Varietas Delectat 3.1). I have already heard this in other threads, but I still don't understand how you do that.

Anyone with some experience could help me out ?

And as it is soon Xmas, anyone could tell me if there is a way to load a particular mod and then use some pre-made maps not particularly designed for it (I'm thinking about playing History in the Making that I love with a particular map without loosing all the specific civs, leaders, ressources... made in HiTM).

Thanks for enlightening a CIV lover (I started with CIV1 while student) but with poor moding Xperience.:)
 
Well, I'm very messy with computer programs and the like, so I just picked up the fle I watched (Next War Enhanced), and dropped it into this mod. I then took out the XML files and copied/ pasted them into the XML files of this mod. The first time I did it this made the mod crash completely. I tried it again and it worked.

There's almost certainly a better way to do it, though.

This is honestly the only map I play now.
 
Yeah, I don't have Inquisitor or the Australian unique unit, but I probably wouldn't use it that often and I always play as England anyway, so I prefer the Next War units

Australian Civ is MODULAR and I think you can easily merge it in your mod just moving the Custom Civilization\Australia folder into your mod... :goodjob:

I have a question about colonies. Whenever I make one, it's America; if I destroy Boudica, could I then have a Celtic colony, or will it still be America? I want a colony on Ireland this game, you see.

I don't usually play with colonies so I don't really know how they works... I just see them in a copple of games and I think that they are not so usefull in this map... But anyone plays the way he likes.... :p

Merging mods is what I did!!! I used Rhye's map, Bmarz Inquisitor, Aranor civilizations and i picked resources in other mods... Then I just merge those stuff and I did some modification to the map... The result is the map I Upload... For Merging mods is better if you know the XML language or will be hard to explain!!! :confused:

HOW TO MERGE VARIETAS DELECTAT 3.1 TO MY MOD:
1- Download Varietas Delectat And unzip him.
2- CUT and PASTE the files EthnicArtstyles_1.04.FPK and VarietasDelectat_v.3.1.FPK IN MY MOD FOLDER Earth 36 Civs\Assets
3-CUT and PASTE the folders Ethnic Artstyles and Varietas Delectat to Earth 36 Civs\Assets\Modules
4- Launch the game... Now Lots of units will be Different!!!

Sometimes is needed just to move the map IN THE MOD FOLDER, Under the private maps (or public maps). Watch out!!! Sometimes the map NEED the mods files to be copied too... For example MY MAP is unable to play without the entire mod!!! ;)

If you're looking for another civilisation at any time, would you consider adding Tibet?

Where did you relocate Celts to - Ireland?

also, could you change the nuclear weapons like in the MAD Nukes mod? In that, nukes can be targetted at cities and are automatically launched if that civilisation nukes you. The nukes can also destroy entire cities. However, the global warming on it is absolutely ridiculous and ruins the game.

I'm off to play this mod now, actually :scan: :xmastree:
 
First off I want to say great mod+map, It's the only one I play lately. However, there seems to be a problem with the new version. When a civ finds a religion with the pre-req tech, they seem to get 2 religions instead of one. I went into the world builder when It seemed fishy that 2 religions where found the same year twice. In the bulder I found out that Charlemagne discovered med. and had 2 religions, Christanity and Hinduism. He had learned no other religious techs(it was only 26 turns into the game) Pretty big problem I figured I let you know. Again great mod. Thanks. Hope to see the problem resolved quickly so I can continue playing.

Thanks for report... I STILL NOTICE THIS PROBLEM to the creator of the mod LIMITED RELIGION... I realize that problem playing AFTER uploading that file...

However the error is "fixed" cause I Upload another version, with all the changes but with the "OLD" working inquisitor... :lol: :lol:

This is a very strange BUG! :mad: :mad: :mad: If you try to change language (for example italian of french) they will be displayed for appropriate name. I don't really know WHY they don't work for English!!!! Also if I named it in the right way!!! Check the file:

Earth 36 Civs\Assets\XML\Text\CIV4GameText_Civilopedia_Bonuses.xml and you will see that I named it in the RIGHT WAY!!! :mad: :mad: :mad:

- Removed the Better Espionage Screen cause BTS 3.13 has already it.
- Added Improved BTS 3.13 GameCore.dll (Lt.Bob V3.0e including Bhruic's v1.11)


I'm still trying to fix the LIMITED RELIGION problem... But seems to be harder than me... :mad: :mad:
 
Nice! Thanks for the update, looks good. Also I wanted to give some suggestions and feedback for the map for both balance and realism. I don't know if you prefer realism or balance, or both. But here goes...

1) First I would rename Portugal to Brazil, or replace Portugal with a Brazilian civ(it drives me crazy to see Lisbon where Sao Paolo should be. lol)

2) I would move the Dutch back to Europe(in Amsterdam), and I would rename(or change) and move the Holy Roman Empire to Poland( It seems Germany is always at the top and France is at the bottom, with HRE gone this leaves France to grow somewhat more. Also this allows Russia to have some early conflict with Poland.

3) I would move the Celts to Scotland or Ireland. This would encourage more war with England, and it would cause more naval battles. The Celt's near Mongolia just doesn't make sense, and now with Poland in the mix the Vikings won't become as strong.

4) African civ's seem to be almost always high in scores, especially Mali and Zulu. First I would rename Sumeria to Congo(just for realism, again just because it drives me crazy to see Sumeria in Africa.) and I would add a Nigerian civ.( I still haven't figured out who to move or delete. Maybe Greece or the Byzantine they are very similar in culture and Greece always ends up with 2 cities at the bottom of the score anyway.

I know those are a lot of suggestions I just feel realism and balance should go hand and hand, and this map+mod has the capability of having both realism and balance, and fun all in one!

Most of these suggestions I made were because of balance. I played over 15-20 games on this map and many of my friends have gave me feedback as well. In short, Africa is almost always strong, and Europe is fairly weak(besides Germany). Also Asia is almost always strong as well. I understand this will happen because of land, and number of cities, however we need to figure out a way for Europe to thrive just like Asia, and we need Africa to be less advanced in techs, and strength.

Please let me know what you think of my suggestions. Again thanks for this great map+mod I wasn't into civ for some time, but this map brought me back. The performance is perfect, even with all these civs. Very enjoyable map.

If you need any help, with city lists or anything let me know. Unfortunately I do not know how to mod, but I will help you in any way you need to perfect this project!
 
FIRST OF ALL I hope you can image HOW HARD is to do a BALANCED MAP when we speak of the PLANET EARTH IN THIS GAME!
Here's all answers you need...

1) Replace Portugal with a Brazilian civ. lol)

I tried to do this but is "strange" but the PORTUGAL can't stay in Europe Cause SPAIN too close. So I decided to put there them AS PORTUGAL COLONERS. REPLACING THEM with an "unofficial" Brasilian Civ will Kick them out from the map and the "unofficial" brasilian civ is not beauty as "official" portughese civ... :p :p

2) I would move the Dutch back to Europe

With this MAYA and PORTUGAL will become Enormous States. And Moving them to Amsterdam (moving east HRE too), will block France As HRE does. :p

3) I would move the Celts to Scotland or Ireland.

Scotland or Ireland in this map are TOO SMALL for 2 Civilizations (England and Celts). They will be blocked by theirselves. In plus, Celts in East Asia are NEEDED to block the "Over-rise" of the OTTOMAN EMPIRE that will conquer half of the "useful" asia. What I'm planning to do is MAYBE to kick out CELTS from the map and put instead of the a kind of "MAGYAR" or "TIBET" Civilizations (What you think about this?)

4) African civ's seem to be almost always high in scores.

NIGERIAN CIV or something other middle African civ is a GOOD IDEA :goodjob: to add in this game. This will Kick out SUMERIANS ('cause Babylon is MORE an Hammurabi's Place). I think that Another civ in Africa is a good idea... This will bring civs up to 39! I have a copple of african civs... I will see...

5) However we need to figure out a way for Europe to thrive just like Asia.

As I am European I don't really know wich one is the "less important"...

and add a few religions like :

- Mesoamerican (Tenochtitlan)
- Christianity -> Catholic (Rome)
- Anglicanism (London)
- Orthodoxy (Moscow)
- Sunna I. (Mecca)
- Shia I. (Bagdad/Babylon) Babylon is 90 Km north distant of Bagdad
- Animism (Ulundi)

- ideas for existing religions ?

If we preplace Capitals should be ok...

Hi Lachlan! I'm interested in adding civs... I have still made a Map with 39 Civs. I add the Maasai Civilization from CivGold 4.0 and very soon I'm going to update the map... I'm looking for other interesting Civs for this map... ANY IDEAS??? :cool:

Seems that they will UNBALANCE the game. A Civilization should not have a Holy City when the game start cause become "too much favourite" since the beginning of the game.

This is a good Idea :goodjob: I was planning to add... Do you know some interesting religions mod that can be merged in mine??? I would add all the "Secondary Religions". Let me explain: The game is ALWAYS with 7 religions, but I want to add a mod that let a civ choose from a list the "REAL RELIGION" that civilization has in the reality (For Example Sud American Religions ecc...)
Any Idea on a mod able to do this???

ANSWER 2 : sorry i have no skills in modding and you should request it in "mod componment" forum of Civfanatics.com behind "Full Mods" forum

and ANSWER 3 : You can add "Inuits" (top america ? greenland ? top siberia ? top europa ?), "Indonesia" and 'Malaysia' still...

Will be still playable ? With 36 Civs my PC has again a few possibilities...

For example in 1500 my 4 Go of RAM was filled by 2/3...

I understand that South America will grow to large, but you did add Argentina so that should slow the growth some what. As Argentina will likely build up and force Portugal(Brazil) to build up as well.

Maybe renaming and relocating the Vikings to Sweden and renaming and relocating the Celts to a Norwegian or Finnish civ?

What about moving HRE to Poland? This will allow France to grow more. The HRE really doesn't have a place on this map with both Germany and France, in my opinion.

I'm of European descent as well, Italian-American actually, so I understand that it's difficult who to remove and who is more or less important. I just personally feel HRE can be moved to Poland, for both balance and realism.

Also I like the idea of diff. religions for Meso-American civs, and Greek/Egyptian/Roman polytheism.
 
Find a bug with the priest while playing egypt...

I can't use great priest to serve as special citizen in any egyptian city

I can only use priest out of cities...

EDIT : i know that why, i have not yet discovered Priesthood ;)
