[BTS] 43 Religions

Ya I did not upload the symbols again after the database got hacked. Because now I redid them all and I have made the some units and buildings reskins for all of the denominations. Faichele is helping on the SDK right now.

I will release this with the WoC because it is modular. But the biggest reason is we increased the amount of space on the Gamefont files to 184 religions, 184 corporations and 368 resources. So no worries about space now. I can still add a lot of corporations after this.

This is the list now for denominations. I did reskins of everything for them but just have to do the buttons for the buildings. Oh ya made inquisition units for all of them too. I still need to do then the text of course and all. I mean this does not even have the xml yet.

And an important note the denominations will only be founded by prophets making schisms. Techs just for the first of the series.

For Pagan religions I am going to leave out the buildings and units because they will act different. But I just plan to split the globe up into 16 areas to begin with and ever civ will start with one. Later maybe I will add more or have denominations of the pagan religions. I don't know yet.

Celtic(West Europe)
Nordic(North Europe)
Slavic(East Europe)
Hellenic(Greek and Rome)
Amun-Ra(Egpyt)
Anunaki(Middle East)
Yaxche(Central America)
Inti(South America)
Midewiwin(North America)
Tengri(Siberia)
Shinto(Japan)
Chinese(East Asia)
Vedic(Indian Subcontinent and Iranian)
Yoruba(West Africa)
San(South Africa)
Dreamtime(Pacific and Australia)

So anyway I am not going to reupload the files here. The art is now available on the SVN. I plan in the future to replace models for at least the shrines after I get some more to fill them all up.

Here is a link to look at it now but it is still a mess.

I posted in your Forums, and I guess if you need someone who can do alot of Research, and Organize it into a Format that makes it easy to read in the Civilipedia, and I could probably design Wonders, or atleast make sketches for them if needed.

If and when I can figure out how to Create Religions XML Files, I will try to take the load off, along with Civics, because I figure if we are going to incorperate the Religions I am suggesting, and posting, we will need Socialist, and then Purely Theocratic Civics for Government, and then a more or less "Cult" Civic that will allow players to Practice Multiple Religions, while having a State religion without the Major Bonuses(Except Happyness)

Well we are working on more things to add to the religioninfo.xml that handles the religions for civics as well. Just because a religion is not you state religion does not mean there is no way of receiving benefits from it. We might have some work around those. And the ideologies could serve as the main religion in a way and every cult that needs a certain ideology could be denominations to that ideology.

I can explain more in you want to chat, but we do not necessarily need a lot of civics I think. They are other ways possible I am saying, but in the end I think we might need a mix. Mainly a mix of future civics with future religions. Just stuff that goes in the era after the regular game.

With the WoC we can have a whole entire modular era as well, and then modular pieces inside of it. And now the WoC has dependencies as well. So if the era is loaded up then things could change in others as well.

All I can say is please look at the WoC and how the files are set up. There is a good example how to add a religion in the WoC already that I think you will find easier to work with than the normal game.

Anyway when I get the chance I will make some symbols for the religions you put in the forum. And thanks for the ideas.

Just wanted to show some screenshots of the reskinned units so far to get gauge of how they look.

And here is what the new TGA looks like in the Woc.

For some reason I cannot download the file. When I click on it, an error message is displayed.

First the file is not there. It is a causality of the hacker attack. I placed a link there to what is being worked on now, and links to what is used to download the files. Anyway so the new one is being updated at the address as we go along.

The units are available in WoC modules SVN. The links I gave earlier go to it. I made recolored the textures for all of the buildings as well. I just have to finish off some buttons for them.

Besides that we are close to being able to release the denomination part of the religion mod. So they will be out not too long. The coder has got the basics of the SDK changes for prophets to make schisms now, but still adding a lot. I will save the rest of details till someone wants to know.

So if you will get a program to download the SVN you can see what we have so far, or you can wait till I release the mod. I am not going to put it up as a separate download till it is finished. Thanks for the interest though.

And the link is here for instructions.

cool. I've use tortoise svn before. But I may wait to see what its like in action.

Bytheway I was wondering if there is a way to change it so that you don't found a religion with a tech. Instead if you the first to found certain religions you get a great prophet and the great prophet founds the religion (if you have the needed tech for the religion etc) maybe add a global define that sets how many religions a civ could find too. I was thinking of this concept because I like the religion chooser but I also want to limit the number of religions in the game and figured I could just limit the number of religions that give great phrophets but still have 47 to choose from without any other major code. Or is this similar to something you guys have already done?

Well we thought a lot of ideas, but we are thinking of adding maybe something like that. But we are working on making pagan religions very different, and adding a religion commerce that automates the decay and spread of a religion.

And including AI for the new stuff as well. So I don't want to say too much for sure yet, but we are working on it. Faichele has done quite a bit already. I mean the schisms have a chance to remove the old religion as well now, and the AI sees them. Then you can also define the time that the schism can occur. Also have something for civics effecting spread rates.

Anyway there is a lot going on at the moment. These new religions are not like you standard religion they are a level below what you are use to. So anyway the idea is not just to add religions but to stay close to original balance as well.

Maybe this is a necro act, but this is still going. My old computer fried so there was pause for a bit. We hope to release a very large alpha soon. We have 4 types of religions now more or less with 94 religion symbols available. So don't be overwhelmed at first at the number of religions they will not act the same as default BtS. The 4 types are.

1. Families - these are beginning pagan beliefs that somewhat more tied into the culture. Every civ starts with one.
2. Cults - these are sects dedicated to one god. You receive these by building a shrine to the god.
3. Faiths- these are what are normally in the game. Founded by a tech.
4. Denominations these split from a faith. Founded by a prophet making a schism.

We have some things we are still planning on. But we have some very small code changes planned and then I will start a thread to show it when done. And like always you can find it in the SVN. It is in the workshop of the WoC SVN. The name is Rapture for the folder. If anyone is interested in helping just let me know. There is always plenty to do.
