[BtS] Amra's Modpack v3 for Beyond the Sword

I really love at least 3 of Amra's leader heads.
I have a quick question in this regard: can anybody tell me how import three of them (Arpad, Idris and Vlad Dracul) into another mod?
I'd like to insert them in place of existing ones, or at least add them to the "pool" of available leather heads for my civ 4 BTS, so that when I edit the wbs with notepad I can simply add: LEADER_ARPAD in place of LEADER_BISMARCK and complete the switch.

Any type of info is very very much appreciated.

Anyone have any luck importing the Venetian Republic by Ekmek yet? Anyone else even tried??? Building Piazza San Marcos...rather, the act of clicking on the button to begin building it causes a CTD. Any help would be much appreciated. I know this has nothing to do with Amra's mod, but as this thread is full of people, who are active in mod circles, and who love Amra's mod, and would like to see...one more...civ, I figured why not?

I appologize if this post offends people, but I love dumping new items into Amra's mod, and I have had some luck modding other things...granted in small bits and pieces. I like playing George Washington with a UU rifleman and Organized Charismatic traits for example. This UB, though, for the Venetian Republic is driving me up the wall.

Amra, et. all, if you get a few minutes now and then between other projects, could you take a look? I don't want to post the link here, since it is another mod pack, but it is accessible from the front page of civfanatics at the moment, as one of the new downloads for civ 4. Please take a gander is all I'm asking :) /beg

Well, It's not a quick/easy thing to do if you've never modded civ4 before but... first you'll need to download a program called "Pakbuild" to unpack the *.FPK files in my modpack. You can find it by Googling.

After that, you should look at the CIV4ArtDefines_Leaderhead.xml, CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml, CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml, Amra_CIV4GameText_Civs.xml, & the Amra_CIV4GameText_Leaders_Pedia.xml files to see how a Leader is added to Civ4. For example, search for "Arpad" in each of those files and it should make it easier.

Also, look at the CIV4DiplomacyInfos.xml file if you want to add First contact dialogue. Other than that, look thru the Tutorials section for some more help. I'm sorry that I can't be more insightful but I really don't want to write a tutorial at this time. :)

You're not offending anyone and it's okay to post links here. :D

I found the civ you are asking about and I must have missed that when Ekmek posted it. The leaderhead is very well done but I'm not sure if I want to add another civ. I will, however, download it and take a look at it for you and, who knows, maybe even add it before I release Amra Advanced in a few weeks. ;)

Amra Advanced - Status Report as of 05/12/2008 :coffee:

TO DO LIST :hammer2:
 • Add 2nd Unique Unit
 • Add 2nd Unique Building (Maybe, gotta see if I can come up with enough info for each civ)
 • Add Great Person Mod (want to rework the art & additional names first)
 • Add 5th & final new corporation
 • Finish icons for new corporations
 • Check out Avain's Modern Era Expansion re: Techs & Units
 • Add more techs & units

This is just a 'thanks' for the time and effort you've put into this and previous mods, which I have greatly enjoyed. I highlight the 2nd unique building because this possible addition sounds awesome! I enjoyed the concept in ( forgive me if I'm wrong, great modder incorrectly credited as Grave ) Grave's Histroy in the Making.

The extra diversity in each civ makes the pregame decisions more interesting, and makes it feel like each civilization is a whole new game.
Anywho, I look forward to ( read: I drool in anticipation of ) playing this mod with or without some of the planned features. Looks great!

P.S. Thanks to the modders here, and the crew busting open the code of Wizardry 8 - Madgod in particular, I haven't had to buy a new game in years! This is vital in the following equation :

Keeping wife = ( Flowers and jewelry purchased + Housework contributed + Hours spent listening to descriptions of her feelings ) - ( Time spent playing games + Cost of said games + Times caught commenting on Jessica Alba's 'attributes' ) :D Keep up the good work! :goodjob:

Thanks for the good words & I often comment on Jessica Alba's VERY FINE attributes.

As far as the 2nd Unique Building goes, I still have to find one for all 78 civs  which could be quite daunting. I think I downloaded a 2nd UB mod for all the Retail civs previously (gotta find it on my computer) so I'm part way there. Just gotta do some research on the new civs. :crazyeye:

I can help you out Amra. :p At least with my own country.

I'm not sure what you have for your first unique building though, so I'll suggest a couple.

For Australia, maybe an AFL (Australian Football League) Sports Stadium , or an ANZAC war memorial (WWI and WWII are very important to us). Also, maybe you could have an Opera House? I don't think we have that many, but I keep thinking of the Sydney Opera House, so it's an idea. You could also have a Penal Colony, or a Convict Camp that gives extra production (slave labour :p).

For the Aborigines, you could have a "Dreamtime" Cave (they painted stories and stuff on the walls of caves) or you could have a ceremony which could replace the theatre. They never really built anything, but they had loads of different ceremonies so it should be easy to choose one and depict it as a building (camp fire, painted rocks and sticks in the ground, etc.)

Austria has Opera House as UB - and I don't think Penal Colony or Convict Camp suits a UB for an independent Australia.;)

Though it is true the Aboriginals didn't build anything lasting, the Bora Rings are an example of ritual rock arrangements, mindful of pre-Celtic menhir placements in Britain and Brittany/Bretagne. "Dreamtime Rock Art" is also more common in the open country than inside caves, depicting mythical Dreamtime subject matter like the Rainbow Serpent (more general) or even fishermen's boats like the prau (in Arnhem Land).

^ I nominate Jeelen* as Vice Commander in charge of 2nd UB implementation! ;)

I'd help, but I'm not that great with history, especially the history of nations I don't live in. Which is a frighteningly high percentage of them.

All I know is that we got here - some how - and that's cool. Not sure what happened, some wars and some sort of moon visit - time share I think ( they always hook you with that $149 vacation to Hawaii, but you go to that 2 hour meeting and next thing you know you have a time share on the moon. ) Oh, and Al Gore created the internet. There must be more but I'm blanking at the moment. :crazyeye:

*edit: Misplaced ' l .' Sorry! :)

No UB in here, but how about the Football Stadium as a 2nd UB for the US? (Otherwise ofcourse: "No comment.");)

Is Brazil in? If so, another Football Stadium! (This time the real thing!)

Wow Amra looks like your movin right along, your mods have always been great. when its done ill have download it and check it out. course ill probally just be fishing for improvements to my mod lol. ;):)
You and everyone else are always welcome to do so. I always think it's flattering when I see some of the stuff I did show up in other mods, such as the new religions sounds & movies.

@Chuggi, JEELEN, & everyone else
Thanks for the 2nd UB suggestions, I appreciate them (whether I've already got them in my mod or not). ;)

I'm going to make a nice organized list of what I've already got in my modpack and what I still need this week. I've been busy this last couple days working on the tech tree, corporations and I even added a new color & fonts. Here's a preview for those who are interested.

I'm not a regular downloader so I'm sure this is about as stupid a question as there is, but I can't get the mod to run. I download it and save it, but it won't run under anything. I even tried to Load a Mod from the game but this mod isn't listed. I know I'm missing something obvious but I'm missing it.

Please don't take this the wrong way but did you actually extract it to your Beyond the Sword\Mods folder with 7-Zip or did you just put the downloaded file into your mods folder? Sorry, but I always have to ask the stupid questions, you never know. :crazyeye:

Otherwise, you may have accidentally installed it into a duplicate folder name as described in this post:
