[BtS] Amra's Modpack v3 for Beyond the Sword

No worries. Turns out something was going on behind the scenes. Once I restarted the computer I was able to extract the program.

Status Report has been updated.

I'm getting closer to an initial release of Amra Advanced. Please note that in an effort to get the initial release out sometime prior to Civ5  I am going to add the 2nd UU & UB for each civ in a future patch. Those two things are just way too time consuming to do right now.

:bts:1066 AD for Amra (version 1.1) v3 Basic

A special edition of "1066 AD for BTS" for Amra v3 Basic (+ patches), adding 2 civs, 8 LHs, units and buildings from Amra's mod. Although based on the BtS-version, setup has been changed.

Summary
---------

This scenario starts around 1060 AD, in the High Middle Ages, when the Old World faces the threats from the Vikings and Mongols. The once all-powerful muslim world is breaking up into smaller empires, the strongest being the Fatimids, currently led by Saladdin, and the Selchuk Turks, while crusading armies prepare to free the Holy Land.

1. Vikings (founded several principalities in France, Italy, Russia...) [Amra custom civ]
2. Mongols (have just overrun the Hsia Hsia and Chin empires)

4. Byzantine Empire [Amra LH]
5. Holy Roman Empire [Amra LH]

@JEELEN
Cool & thanks. :goodjob:

@Kao'chai
It's definitely going to be BIG & not for the faint of computer. :D Right now, it is over a GB uncompressed on my computer. I haven't compressed it yet to see what the download size will be but I would anticipate somewhere around 350MB.

Most of the space is taken up by the Leaderheads and all the Units. I think for some future version I will have to go thru all the units to see if I can lighten the load somehow.

and you haven't added the 2nd UU & UB
No, not yet. Isn't that scary?

[EDIT] I should add that some things such as the Great Person Mod art take up a lot of space also. The GP Mod art is about 112MB just by itself.

You're welcome. (I plan to update my scenarios with the future version, ofcourse.):hatsoff:

+1 GB? Will that slow down load times beyond that of CIV Gold (now at 5-10 mins)?

No, it will still load very quickly since my Art files will be pakked. Civ Gold takes so long to load because none of their art files are pakked, they are all modular.

On my computer, if the art is pakked, it takes less than 30 seconds to load & get to the main menu screen.

Dammm Amra i thought mine was bad lol, mine is 1.12GB uncompressed but is down to 249MB once its packed up and it was bigger when i first started lol. course i could probally make it smaller if i would take the time to really examine all the files and drop the ones i didnt make changes in.
Ditto. My zipped file may be less than I stated, I just haven't gotten that far yet to know.

I can't wait to see the Advanced version. I'm so used to playing the Marnz Mod, with all the extra resources and such, that playing the normal game again (even with your massive list of new civs) feels a bit lacking.

OK, that's good. :goodjob: (I was wondering why I couldn't locate all those LHs...) So... if someone would like to export/import some of your LHs, they'd need to unPAK the fpk? (Got a question about that from a scenariomaker.)

PLEASE NOTE:

:bts:1066 AD for Amra BTS has been updated to version 1.2

Changes:

- English Normans now start as vassal of the king of France
- corrected Norman Italy (which started with Buddhism as State Religion and contact with China, Japan and Mongolia...):crazyeye:

Was having the FAQ trouble with the UI - the fix for Vista 64 was posted but the 32 bit is to make sure you have a registry key in HKLM\Software\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\ -> String INSTALLDIR Data = c:\program files\sid meier's civilization 4\beyond the sword\ (your installation path).

No UB in here, but how about the Football Stadium as a 2nd UB for the US? (Otherwise ofcourse: "No comment.");)

Is Brazil in? If so, another Football Stadium! (This time the real thing!)

Interesting idea, but that could get too confusing. Why not have the American second UB be a "theme park", that's a rather American building. Maybe replace the "Inn" if you're using that building (It was a building in the Marnz Mod, +1 :food:, +1 :), + some culture, +5% :commerce: for certain resources (tea, lemons, etc.), and was unlocked with tourism).

For the Transylvanian civ, you could have an alternate Castle as the second UB. Didn't Vlad get his name as Count Dracula from living in Castle Dracula (meaning "of Dragons" I think). Maybe call it a "Keep" because "Citadel" is already taken by Spain?

Football (Stadium) and (Estadio do) Futbol are quite different things; alternatively there's the Baseball Stadium (also very Americana). "Theme Park" doesn't ring a bell (with me anyway), Disneyworld does (but you can't have a Disneyworld in every US city - unlike a Movie Theatre). But that's just one civ and there's a whole lot more out there.;)

"Theme park" covers a very wide array of establishments, from water parks, to the very famous and overpriced Disney parks. Even a traveling carnival can be lumped into that description.

Also, yes, there can be a theme park in nearly every major city. I live in Austin, and both Houston and Dallas have "Six Flags" brand parks. San Antonio has a "Sea World", and just 45 minutes away from me, New Brausnfels (now bigger than a Town in Civ 4 might be, and I also have no idea how to spell it) has the Schlitterbahn water park. And those are just the parks I can name off of the top of my head in Texas.

Theme parks in America are very common, and they are always trying to outdo and outsell each other. But, that's my personal opinion.

Also, I'm trying to think up other ideas for the other Civs so that Amra and others don't have to. It's just that there are so many, and I was only taught so much by the American public school system (it sucks worse than anything people out of the states hear or say).

Edit: Troy: Limenas, Limeni, Greek for a port. Troy was so major because it was in a great position for sea trade. That's why so many wars were fought over it and it was attacked/destroyed so many times.
