[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

I'm skipping ahead a bit to the Roman set since that is my favorite civ to play as and since achilleszero finished that Centurion for me.

I had a question of preference for you guys though. I have attached an image of two Roman Anti-Tank Infantries. The one on the left was made by Zerver but I replaced his skin with Bakuel's skin. The one on the right is a more modern looking Roman soldier. The left texture is going to be used for the Machinegunner and Infantry, the one on the right is for the Paratrooper, Marine, and SAM Infantry.

I was wondering which I should use for the Anti-Tank. I have, for the most part, used an older skin for other Anti-Tank infantries (so they match with the machine gun and infantry) but I'm not sure which I should use for Rome. What do you think?

I'd love the one on the right with the helmet of the one on the left.

I also patiently await your Vercingetorix. Methyl's is good, but he looks too much like Asterix from that French cartoon.

My thoughts exactly. My Vercingetorix looks pretty good right now, but I didn't test him yet, so I can't promise anything so far. I'm now assigning the bones and working on his helmet. The helmet of your new Alexander gave me an idea.
By the way, Ekmek and I have finished the new version of Henrique the Navigator and Ekmek also surprised me by making a shaded version of Gustav Vasa. Check them out in my gallery if you're interested.

I tested Vercingetorix ingame. I have to say I'm not pleased...

Well you have plenty of time, at least for my mod, to finish Vercingetorix. I still have to flavor around twelve civs and add/alter four other civs. I am going to flavor the city styles and terrain after that and THEN add the leaders. So don't rush yourself on my account. I am also going to make a bunch of LHs for the mod at that point. So I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to streamline it. If you don't mind PMing me an image of it though that could be a bit helpful so I can see what he'll look like. Just so I can make sure that Cartimandua doesn't look too similar (not that it would be a problem, one being a woman and one being a man, but I don't want to double up on any models etc.)

Capo, you shold try out Quot Capita sometime, if you have the time. There's some stuff in it that'd be kinda nice to see in Diplomacy.
One feature I'm really loving is having barb civilizations that aren't discovered after so long eventually becoming civilizations. With some fine tuning, you could have a sort of realistic Terra event where, upon discovering the new world, you find yourself against an actual civilization or two that are a couple of eras behind rather than scattered barbarian cities.

I might get a preview picture of him if I will get stuck and would like help. What I can tell you now is that his clothes will be something like this:
verc001.jpg
.
I hope it helps. Right now I can't show a preview since I'll do the retexturing only after I see it actually works.

Someone that badass might give me an excuse to actually play as Celts.
Normally I avoid them because, to me, they have the worst (if not second worst, I'm looking at you Salon. Ruining my great person chances with your great artist) UB and one of the worst UUs in game. Same goes for France, I never really saw the point of any unit that gets double movement, since you attack in -stacks-.

I will be playing a bunch of future era mods to get an idea for what I want to do for the future era in Diplomacy. The R & D phase for that part of the mod is probably going to last the longest out of any phase of the mod's development. As far as the Barbarian Civs go; I'm already going to add that to my mod.

@ IgorS; while I am on a small LH-making hiatus (probably another couple of weeks if not less time than that) I can still do some things. If you need me to make anything for Vercingetorix I can help with that. And I'm sorry about Tamerlane, I just piled up too much on my plate to work on him right now. When I am done flavoring and adding the new civs that's when I'm going to do the new LHs and that is when I will work on Tamerlane with you. So its only a couple more weeks and you'll have me back making LHs again. :goodjob:

Well, since you specialize in headgear... Any chance you could make a helmet with wings like the one in the picture? If not, I'll try and manage myself. Right now I'm thinking of taking Hannibal's helmet and the feathers from your new Alex's helmet. I won't be really working on it for a while though since I've got clipping issues with the cape and right sleeve.

I could probably make that helmet, although I'm going to use a different method to go about making it. Although it isn't easy just to make a helmet without having a head to fit it on. So if you have the head/hair you intend on putting on him it would really help me to make a helmet that fits well.

I keep getting this python pop-up error with some of the mediterranean sailing ships I have used for the certain civs. The pack includes a Caravel (which works), a Galleon (which gets the pop-up), a frigate and an SotL (neither one tested yet). Does anyone have experience with these units at all? They are in the database (I believe in the Renaissance section) so if you want to take a look at them you can pick them up pretty easily.

I just can't figure out why this happens. And A LOT of the civs are using these ships (mainly ancient med and middle eastern civs). I think this happened with the American Galleon too, but I forgot how I fixed that issue.

EDIT: I'm also going to make a new Mursilis, but I'll probably have to rename him Muwitalli so Ekmek doesn't get pissed... like I had to do with Basil/Heraclius.

Well, you could also do what I did- get Ekmek to help you somehow on a LH he already made, so he won't be pissed. :) This is how I made a new Henrique The Navigator.

Well, take Brennus and make a helmet that fits him. I use Brennus' hair and I didn't resize it, if I remember correctly. So just try to make a helmet that sits on Brennus.

Will do. If I could make a suggestion, you should probably rip the stache' off of my Cersobleptes LH, that is if you are giving him that Gallic looking mustache.

I'd also suggest giving him brown hair rather than red hair, only because Brennus already has red hair.

I don't like the Mursilis we have that much. It would be cool to have a new one by Ekmek-The Capo cooperation ;)
I'm sure it will be as awesome as the new Henrique...

Actually, I took Bismarck's moustache and made it longer. I like what I got. I was thinking of making his hair blonde, not brown.

As far as the graphics for the mod go I have hit another slight snag, I have to figure out how to get some animation issues fixed up and I'm also trying to get the Frankish UU sorted out. So in the meantime I threw together some terrain graphics to make the game look a bit better. If any of you remember the first mod I made I basically used Chuggi's improved graphics with an altered ocean. The graphics I am currently thinking of using are from the upcoming Total Realism mod. I am not sure whether or not I like these better than Chuggi's, so I'm wondering what you guys think. So here are a couple of screen shots.

I love it.

If anyone wanted to lend me a hand with the latest snag I've hit that would be really helpful. I am using THESE SHIPS in my mod, and I can't seem to get the damned mediterranean ships to work properly without getting a python error pop-up.

If you aren't familiar with these pop-ups SOMETIMES you can continue the game when there is a python error (if you have the python pop-ups off you don't see them, and in some cases would never know there is a problem), but for whatever reason when one of these Mediterranean ships is activated a series of python pop-ups occur. I don't really know what to do about it, but I was wondering if anyone could try the ships out themselves and let me know what their experience is with them. In the meantime I am trying to figure out how to get it working correctly, but so far nobody has replied to my posts. Good luck, and thanks in advance to anybody who helps me with this.

I don't see a big difference between these and Chuggi's, except for the water tiles.
