[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

That was my mistake on the rifleman. I forgot to recolor his hands (his face is black but its hard to tell from the image) but I intended on redoing that texture anyway so that isn't how it will look in the final version.

EDIT: Do you think the medieval units are too over the top?

Nah.
Nor are the early units. I mean realistically they'd just be France's units, so you've gotta take some artistic license. Giving them an early voodoo feel works nicely.

Edit: Well, I guess realistically it'd be like. Mayan units early on until medieval units, then French units until industrial era. But that'd be boring.

Here is the first Assyrian unit I've made. Its the archer, I hope you guys think it looks okay. I am going to make their ancient units pretty ancient, and their medieval ones will still look ancient, but also with a little medieval flare. You'll see. But anyway, check out the archer and let me know, I used Bakuel's Sumerian as a base and used the head from another unit I had lying around.

Very nice.
Did you settle on what would be the UU and UB?

I have a couple options for both actually right now. I'm leaning towards going with the Battering Ram as a UU (replacing the Catapult) and the Ekal Masharti as the UB (replacing the barracks).

The other two options are the Redu UU (replacing the spearman) and the Karum (replacing the Harbor). I decided to go with the Battering Ram since there aren't many seige UUs. I decided to go with the Ekal Masharti as the UB rather than the Karum because I think the Assyrians were more of a land power than a sea-power, so I wanted to cover that aspect with the Ekal Masharti.

EDIT: the Ekal Masharti will replace the barracks and give +15% production when building units. The Ram will be cheaper to build than a Catapult (slightly), come with an improved city attack and be available with Iron Working.

That works.
I'd still suggest making the Battering Ram require iron, but making it really powerful in return.

Should the Battering Ram both require the Iron Working tech as well as the Iron resource? Or should I just make it available after researching Iron Working?

And here is another Assyrian unit. The Spearman.

It should require both. I'd still keep Construction as a requirement, though.
Or just make it a normal (though cheaper) version of the catapult that comes with IW. Either could work, though I think the former would be better.

Also, very nice Spearman.

Well, I wanted to give the Assyrians an early advantage (to emulate their ancient power) so I think I'll make the Battering Ram available after the discovery of Iron working (which I think people try to get before Construction).

Thanks, I'll try to get a few more Assyrians done tomorrow, I just need to come up with some ideas for their Medieval-era units.

Actually, I think I can base the medieval units off of these guys. It would be a pikeman, heavy footman/maceman, and a Longbowman.

Honestly?
I'd love to see the medieval units have the same facial hair.
Modern units too.
I'm just trying to picture Infantry with that.

That pic works.

I was actually planning on doing that. Giving them modern units that look Assyrian rather than generic-middle-eastern looking units. It will make the civ move unique and fun to play as.

And the added manliness makes them the greatest late-game military civ.
Sure, US might have Navy Seals but come on. Those beards. It's like if Cuba had an army of Castros.

I slightly altered the Spearman. I am going to save the "helmeted" heads for the medieval period and give the ancient Sumerians a less-armored look (if that makes any sense). Anyway here is the slight modification to the Assyrian Spearman. Not much of a difference, I know, but I think it looks a little better.

This is going to sound like an odd request; but if anyone could find a swordsman that uses the spearman body but not the head anywhere that would be extremely helpful.

Continuing the Assyrian mock-ups, I have an Assyrian Horseman. Please let me know what you guys think about these units because I am going through them rather fast. The idea is to make them different from Babylon and Sumeria's units so that when the final edition of the mod comes out the ancient-near-east will be just as lively as any other part of the world. Basically I want to avoid having all of the units look like Babylonian units (so Israel will probably get a makeover as well).

Well, let me know what you think. If you want to know I am going with the brown/orange/redish color-scheme to match the flag. The medieval units will also have green and gold involved too.

I'm rollin through these Assyrians. Here is my first mock-up (I think I'll do three before deciding) for the Assyrian Heavy Footman/Maceman. I am not EXTREMELY pleased at this point but so far this is kind of what I want it to look like. I'll make three versions though.

I'll probably edit some of the texturing a little bit on this one though.

I'll do that for the Knight. I have to stretch an ancient civilization's units into both ancient and medieval era. So I'll use their "more fancy" looking units for medieval and go with simple ones for the ancient era.
