For the next installment I want each player to control either 2 or 3 leaders.
There can be a relationship between the leaders. Perhaps the players leaders all must be from the same civilization or all must have specific traits?
 
Both from same civ sounds most "right".
 
I liked that idea too.
If I did that the question would be 2 or 3 leaders.
If I did 3 leaders that would limit the game too 4 players.
America, France, England and Russia.
 
I think 2 leaders would be better because it gives more options.. getting even one leader killed off is pretty bad and it is more likely to happen with more leaders. Also we could play on a higher difficulty so people would have to manage maintenance and units better?
 
I was thinking of making speed slower.
Higher difficulty interests me.
How exactly does it change the game.
I was under the impression it only makes the AI more difficult.
 
It increase maintenance, increase barb spawn rate, increase tech cost, remove the bonuses against barbs and makes huts pop worse things off the top of my head. Afaik it doesn't actually make the AI smarter just gives it more bonuses.
 
2 leaders of the same civilizations sounds great idea! 3 as you said would limit the options available. It would also be nice to start as a team so your 2 leaders start close together and not far appart.

Higher difficulty is interesting we could try deity since there will be no AI's involved.
 
Higher is better, ate least noble isn't the best choice for me :)
I'm also interested in total random leaders, as well as random personalities and unrestricted leaders...
 
Random personalities doesn't do anything without AI though...
 
If you play with random personality, we don't need to specify it in gamesettings :p. the random personality option only affects AI behaviour.
 
Two leaders from the same Civ and a higher difficulty sounds good. As does slower speed.

Presumably there would be no tech trading?

I like Barbs and random events as I think there is a lot of luck in starting positions anyway. Will you have huts or are these too random? Personnally I like them too :)
 
Well there haven't been tech trading off in any game yet. Personally i hate slower speed and i am not sure if i would play if that was the case...
 
IF I did slower speed.
Research would be faster as you have two leader contributing to it.
 
Yeah but it would still have a very different balance of troop movement vs research...
 
Troops move the same too.
 
Yes that is the point. Troops have save movement but everything else is 50% slower.. So hence they move faster relative to the amount of production/research your empire put out.
 
You will research faster as you will have 2 leaders contributing to research.
Also it wouldn't be 1/2 as fast as I wouldn't slow down all the way just 1 notch.
