[BtS] "Mars, Now!"

Do you think you could find a use for this unit I made a while back? It was the very first custom-made unit I made from scratch and I hate to see it go to waste. It was supposed to be part of an Alien wildlife unit pack, but I never got around to finishing it. It's not rigged, but it was supposed to use the War Elephant's animations.
Spoiler :

Depends on how it looks ingame :).
Just give it to me.
Not sure, if i'll have the time to rigg it, i've only tried it one time myself and it took relativly long.

Btw, i've also added the units from your pack as ethnic art ;), they look really nice.

Thanks, hopefully this will look good in your mod.

I'm so jealous. Really.

I hope to see soon something :).

Did again different things today, around 20 buttons, added a bit ethnic city art for the aliens, added another bunch of music, changed the civics a bit, etc, etc.

First of all, I must commemorate you for making such an awesome mod. :goodjob: I have longed for being able to colonize the Red Planet, and suddenly I stumble across this. I have been playing and enjoying your mod for a few days now, and it feels like an entirely new Civ! It even pushed me to finally sign up here after a long time of lurking!

However, the poor translation and text in the Civilopedia disappointed me. What made Alpha Centauri so immersive? IMO its massive and detailed Datalinks! So why not do an effort to make it good, I thought. I see several people here offering help on improving it, so I'm going to jump on the bandwagon. I might not be able to speak or write German, but I am quite competent at English and I do have a few years of online free form role playing behind me.

So if you need extra help at writing Civilopedia articles, just notice me and I'll write you a sample text and we'll go from there! ;)

Ah, another person to help me out, very nice. I am working on a few units base on the early era, but I could use help with the wonders.

Finding this mod right after I re-read these feels like kismet. You sir, are teh poo, as the kids say.

Thank you both :).

But i have to say, i haven't read the Mars trilogy .
It was already mentioned by Garret Sidzaka on the first page of the thread, and i somewhen really want to read it, but i don't have any time :/.

At writing i need every help i can get :). I do not have enough time to write the stuff myself and i'm also not good in it .
I'll PM you :).

edit: :wallbash: forgot the restrictions for new users: You can't send/receive any PM until you have 5 posts and been registered for 5 days.
d***!
Then i hope this here is enough for notification.

Nice, nice, especially with the quotes :).

The entry for the martian colonists has been translated into german by Edu, and he has mentioned some minor things which i'll have to fix, and he has a question for the understanding: What do you exactly mean with "and that Earth is only the first step towards a new society"?
I had not noticed this myself, shame on me .

Great! Just give me a task and I'll get down to it. I see gyrobot wanting some help with the Wonders, should I start on that then?

42 eh? I was a bit perplexed by when I first saw the project as I had no idea of what it was, except it being a sci-fi version of The Oracle. Since it's name is an homage to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, as well as requiring Computers to be built I suspect it is some supercomputer or collective scientific project, right?

I don't think the pedia entry for 42 should contain any info other than that it is the Ultimate Answer. I'd even go as far as guessing that most people recognize the number and know where it came from.

It's exactly the 42 from the Guide ;).
Thought, the oracle effect would somehow be appropriate (gives you knowledge).

Some can't :/.
But your suggestion is probably the best.

 instead the statue of mars could be something, where someone could be really creative, i guess .

btw, got the problem with the water tiles and improvements is gone know :).
It was my own fault, a normally valid civilopedia manipulation has led to the crash i experienced .

I know douple posts suck bigtime, but what about a civclopida sub-forum for those who want to help you, we could organize the entries a whole lot easier this way.. :D

Done. Hope you like it ;)

This seems like a good idea.

EDIT:
D'oh, misread your post there, J. Oh well, the description should serve as a sample then.

...yeah, that's computer science :/.
It's always like that :/.

I don't think it will make that much sense.
My activity will decrease again in the next days, because of my RL study work, and what i've learned: If the creator of the mod doesn't work, the overall activity will go down, and nothing is more sad than a dead subforum.

Done. Hope you like it ;)

Nice one :).
That you've chosen the "wrong" wonder doesn't really matter for me, i do not have real preferences. I just suggest the things which are probably more fun to write.

But in this case, i could have warned you a bit: The statue of the fallen astronaut is something with a real background, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallen_Astronaut.
But well, after reading your text i'm not sure if you knew that or not. -> :goodjob:.
