[BtS Module] Austria

thanks Ekmek but I'm not gonna go through all the trouble of unpacking and xmling all the files just to get Austria...

I just found Poland:D

I just found this mod resting untouched in my downloads folder. I guess I just forgot about it when I realized I didn't know how to install it.

Does anyone know what I should do to reupload the file?

BTW, I could still use some help installing it.

I have both Austria and Poland (both with a ton of custom units and animated LHs, including Francis I) added in my Wolfshanze Mod (all the XML work already done for you).

I also added custom buildings and units for both.

See my sig-line for the mod.

I would suggestion reposting it on your own account as you'd need his password to repost it as his and then link to it from this thread and make sure to state that it is his so as you dont accidentally get labelled as a thief.

I thought that Joseph II woulda been a better choice than Franz Joseph. He was in my opinion one of teh greatest, if not the greatest Habsburg Emperor. Also Leopold II beat Louis XIV and Franz II beat Napoleon, Franz Joseph just had a very long life full of defeats and perpetual irresistable decline, hardly worthy of being named a great leader. Otherwise excellent mod.

Aren't you clever? Actually Prussia was a light weight that did hardly anything to Napoleon except famously coming in the nick of time at Waterloo. Russia was an unreliable and inconsistent opponent of France and England while being Napoleon's most implacable and determined foe could only damage France by attacks on teh periphery of Europe and colonies and by proxy wars, such as in Spain. Austria however was a determined opponent of France that was Napoleon's main adversary and challenger in Germany and Italy. Without Franz II and Austria, Napoleon could not have been defeated. Also I meant that Leopold I, not Leopold II, beat the Sun King, that was a miss type.

I'm well aware of Francis II contribution... in fact, it was I who requested a new leaderhead for him specifically so I could create the "Austrian" civ in my mod.

Aren't you clever? You simply spoke like he single-handedly defeated Napoleon, which is a far cry from the truth... in-fact, Austria was repeatedly defeated multiple times by Napoleon, the HRE was broke-up by him and Austria surely never would have been able to defeat France had it not been for the coalition of powers that united against him... of which Austria was a part of, not the leader or main-power of. Napoleon repeatedly strong-armed Austria into his biding... while Austria certainly was no great friend of Napoleonic France, to act like they were the main champion who crushed Napoleon all on their own is a far cry from the truth.

I happen to like Francis II... I added him to the game as the 1st Austrian Emperor (Francis I)... I just don't think he defeated Napoleon all by his lonesome... he had a LOT of help, and wasn't even there in the final battle.... nonetheless, in my Austrian Civ mod, I have both Francis I and Franz Josef as the optional leaders of Austria.

That is actually incredibly good work there. Not just some Napoleon leaderhead with a goofy crown but it actually looks like him. That being said I did not intend to make it appear like Francis defeated Napoleon singlehandedly. I am well aware that Napoleon frequently punished Austria's boldness. Rivoli, Marengo, Austerlitz, Wagram just to name a few. Also I am aware that much of Austria's army was on the British payroll. Howver it must be remembered that in 1809 at the villages of Aspern-Essling the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte was repulsed and defeated in a battle, his first battlefield defeat in Europe. This immensly heartened those who resisting him and arguably it convinced Russia to break with Napoleon leading to his invasion of Russia and his ultimate downfall. I still stress that Austria was the main opponent of France in Germany and Italy and if Schwarzenberg hadn't arrived at Leipzig Napoleon may have carried teh day. Of course that cannot be proved, nor to what degree Alexander was influenced by Wagram, but to me it would seem likely that Austria was monumental in these two respects.

By the way, could you perhaps make a Joseph II leaderhead? I like your style and Joseph is my personal favorite Emperor and my hero so I would like to see you make an excellent version of him. I would very much appreciate it. Nice to meet someone who is in to history as much as I am. Excellent retort there, I hope I clarified things for you though.

I'll see what I can do... in the meantime, if you appreciate my take on history, you might be tempted to try my mod for BtS... the Wolfshanze Mod... it's in my sig-line... and yes, you can use good old Francis I to lead Austria into battle!

Oh I certainly will try your mod. Are you Austrian by the way? I'm assuming so but since the Austrians speak German I can never tell for sure.

Oh what leaders did you set for Poland?

Ahem... *points below Wolfshanze's avatar*

oh duh. He's from Florida, now I feel stupid. Wasn't even thinking there. Thanks for pointing that out bro.

Ahem... *Arnold Schwarzenegger would list his location as California* (and he's Austrian)

Having said that... no... I'm not Austrian... but I have been there several times.

Oh, and as for Poland, I have Casimir the Great and Sobieski... might include Lech Walensa at some point... dunno.

I'm polishing up a new version and plan to have it out in a day or two.

All right dude. I'll be looking forward to it for sure. Casimir and Sobieski were the ones I was looking for. I have to ask, is the new version you're polishing up going to include Joesph II? That would be about the best mod ever if it was.

It's now out... no Joseph II, but I do have Austrian Dreadnoughts... along with a lot more!
