Hello, I recently wanted to play a GOTM and have gotten errors when opening the MOD saying that there is no HOF mod installed.

Have you applied all the fixes listed here?

Sadly, I've encountered the same issue while loadin the game

I've applied all the fixes I could (except 'run as elevated', as there's no such option on my PC).
Seems like the magical patch from @Noble Zarkon is my only solution.


My game path is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe"

I am experiencing similar problems, my friend, but mine is worse... I already tried it on Windows 10 - as soon as you put the right mouse button on the file to be launched (Beyond sword.exe) - compatibility in Windows 7 and run as administrator - then this message will no longer appear. .. However, I can only play and launch downloads in version 3.19 of the mod, if I want to launch or load any download made in mod 3.17 or 3.13, then the game crashes to the desktop without any messages.

Hello. I've recently acquired the GOG version of Civ 4 for use on my Windows 11 laptop, but like several others here, can't get the BUFFY mod to load with eligibility for GOTM. I did try the fixes with File & Execution permissions but the issue has persisted. @Noble Zarkon if you have a moment to send me the patch, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Without the patch games installed via GOG won't work.

However - that's a Steam path so the GOG patch won't help you.

What specifically is the issue you are having?

Have you tried all the steps under https://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/mod.php?show=steam and https://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/mod.php?show=windows?

I believe that issue is related to the "Read Only" on the folders in My Documents. Please try removing the read-only check mark on those folders in Properties

That was done and checked... And IO actually have another issue when loading any GOM save file:

THat is an assets issue related to Locked Modified Assets setting, which must be on for GOTM and HOF games. It means your assets are different than the assets of the person who created the save. There could be a few reason for that issue. First, what version of CIV are you running?
