Hi,

I'm running latest version of BTS BUG BULL AND Blue Marble. When I try to use ALT + X to mark potential new city locations nothing happens.

CTRL + X does turn the option on and off in BUG menu but ALT + X doesnt do anything. Anyone any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi again, In my frustration at getting this to work I managed to enter the mode by repeatedly pressing alt + x over and over rapidly. Its wired because things like alt + s work as expected every time.

I tried this on my laptop and its exactly the same as my desktop doesnt work byt repeatedly hitting it will eventually get you into the mode.

Anyone any ideas or had / have this problem??

I've never had this problem. Perhaps there is so much going on behind the scenes on your computer, or in the games where this happens, that the keyboard is not getting polled as rapidly as you are pressing the key combo. Try pressing and holding alt-X for a few seconds and see if that helps.

I have noticed alt+x often doesn't work the first time. I suspect what happens is that if the dot-map is on when the game starts, it will not display (despite being 'on'); and so when you press alt+x first, it turns it off (and so it still doesn't display), but when you press it again, it turns back on and then displays.

...

That's how it seems to behave when I use it.

In one case in particular, I have an issue with BUG dot mapping. I don't know why, but frequently I have a "the dot mapping doesn't work" type issue with Better BUG AI when starting a new game. The color selection interface shows up via Alt-X and it acts like it should except that it will not actually place a dot + BFC area marker. If I save, exit the game, and load the save then it works (no marker that was attempted before this is there). I think it has happened a few times with a couple of other mods as well. This could be the same sort of issue with the same work-around: save/exit/load.

Thanks for the help guys. I tried setting the dot map options on and off and restarting and also reloading a saved game but still having the same problem.

As all other CTRL and ALT funtions work perfectly and I'm having the same problem on a second machine I'm thinking its a bug that would need to be fixed.

Would have been nice to solve it but not a huge issue.

Thanks for your help.

I've been currently working on Better BAT AI, which is based on Better BUG AI and I haven't had the problem at all.

If this is happening to BUG users it should happen with BAT 3.0 as well. Has anyone had this issue with plain ol' BAT?

That's a good point actually. I installed BAT as well but I'm not running it.... I actually couldnt see that BAT did well anything at all.

I just loaded into BAT (again couldnt see BAT had done anything, what am I missing?) and am having the same problem with ALT + X. Hammering ALT + X repeatedly works eventually.

Thanks.

BAT has enhanced graphics and terrain, and some female units, and more tile and city information, but other than that, it's unmodded BTS.

Using BAT 3.01
Civ IV 3.19

Alt-x works fine, it goes on and off, adds, removes etc no problem.

When I try Cntl-x to hide the dot maps, nothing happens. I think its been disabled by 'accident' it would seem like.

Love the mod, BAT 3.01, the better AI is certainly more of a challenge now.

p.s. left a message in bat extra's page about a text error, on a great person Jane Goodall.

Hmmm. I haven't touched the code for the dot mapping...

The better AI component only appears in Better BAT AI, not 3.01, but I think that's what you meant. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Fuyu did a wonderful job on the AI. :)
