Had exactly the same, multiple times. It's either denouncement or at least warmonger penalty. Should not happen in a joined war.

Joint wars are a trap, it will declare a formal war or even surprise war directly. So BIG penalty, don't do it if you don't have a valid casus beli with the enemy.
