Bug: Privateers disappear if AI ship enters city.

Hello.

Might be a feature, but sure feels a lot like a bug:

If i have Privateer unit(s) in my city, and AI sails through my city (with anything but a WORK BOAT), all the Privateers in that city disappear without a trace.

Totally reproducable. I can provide save(s) if necessary.

I tried to search but didnt find this bug reported before. I have BtS 3.02 (cant play 3.03, crashes all the time) and no mods except Solvers fixes.

Keep an eye on The Hague, theres 2 privateers, and next turn theres not.

No game access ATM, so question, Do you have fast defence turned on? That is could the AI have fought the Pirates?

If that is the case, you will not see the animation. Check if the enemy health bar is lower.

I had the same problem.
I don't have fast combat turned on.

The rival civ ship in my city was a galley, which should be easy pickings for the privateer anyway.

No, theres no fighting. They just disappear into thin air.

I did some reading at the forums, and seems like atleast dozen people have stumbled into this in a way or another, and some seem to think its a feature. Well, maybe so, but a frustrating feature when your 37xp privateer gets dusted just because you didnt know about it before...

Gotta keep my privateers in more isolated cities from now on, i guess.

I'm thinking this is not a bug in and of itself, privateer is considered an enemy unit to the AI, you have open borders with the AI allowing them into your city. Privateers in port should no longer have hidden nationality, would fix the problem

For instance you have open borders with America, Germany also has open borders with America. You are at war with Germany. Germany puts a battleship into America's city but Germany has no land units in that city. You walk in with a land unit and the battleship is destroyed without a fight. America is your friend with OB so his city garrison will not defend the German battleship.

Now what happens when you try that same thing with a battleship of your own instead of a land unit to kill the german ship I am not sure.
