Bug Reporting

Did a quick search on this thread so I'm hopeful that I'm not bringing up an old issue:

When I use the 'advanced start' feature in a game and go to purchase Techs, the text below the screen is totally garbled and the cost of the purchase is '???'.

I also get this problem. Bumping because I didn't see any responses to it.

Also noted the following after installing latest BUG today on 3.13 and bhuric's. Installed BUG Mod as a mod.

1. Scoreboard disappears if I have "Advanced Options" checked. This only happens when in multiplayer.

2. After the installation of the BUG mod, my computers no longer detect games in the LAN lobby. I have to enter in a direct IP in order to run the game. Not too big of a deal.

3. Can auto logger be disabled from the start? Every time I start a new game, I have to disable it.

I'll keep reading back in time to see if these issues have been addressed.

This isn't so much a bug, as a quirk perhaps?

When sorting columns in the Domestic Advisor, infinity is represented by a Dash (-) and gets listed before the "lowest" numbers. Most prevalent for the GP columns.

Would be cool for those few places where infinity ∞ is the actual value - if the infinity symbol could be used, though I think it may not be displayable in game, I can't get it to show on a SIGN.

At the very least if in those instances, they sort after the largest numbers instead of before the least.

BUG is designed to work for single player - any feature that also works under multiplayer is a bonus for you.

Personally, I would not expect it to work for multiplayer as anyone worth their salt would check 'locked assets' which disabled any mod installed under customassets. If BUG is installed as a mod, then everyone one playing multiplayer (ie lan game) would need to have the mod installed.

No idea why that is. How have you installed BUG (customassets or mod)?

3. Can auto logger be disabled from the start? Every time I start a new game, I have to disable it.
The ini file should remember that you have disabled it. If it doesn't, then that probably means that there is an issue with your install. If you enable the 'silent' mod, then you will never see it even if it is running.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on modding the game. I just like to play it. ViSA worked in multiplayer, so I assumed BUG would as well. My apologies for expecting the same.

1. Both computers have BUG installed as a mod.

2. I installed using the instructions for the mod install (as I said in my post). I originally installed the first way but then realized multiplayer didn't work that way. I then deleted customassets and renamed my customassetsold folder to customassets. I then installed the game as a mod and edited my civ4config.ini file to automatically load the mod each time the game begins. BOTH computers have BUG installed as a mod (same version and install method).

3. Can I manually disable autologging in one of the .ini files? Would that solve the problem?

4. Any word on the advanced start technology bug?

Thank you for your reply.

Yes. You should be able to manually edit the 'BUG Mod.ini' file and change the following to FALSE.

Code:
###########################################################################
[Autolog]

# Enables use of the autolog part of the mod. 0 = Disabled, 1 = Enabled.
Enabled = True

If it doesn't 'take', then BUG is having some trouble reading your 'BUG Mod.ini' file.

I can't have been the first person to say this, but

INSTALLATION: (Warning: This may overwrite any mods currently in place. It’s recommended to backup your old CustomAssets folder. We also suggest deleteing your current BUGMod Documents folder, as we have changed our naming structure for our Documents.)

If you're going to make a clickable installer, put this warning in it. Or make an uninstaller. I didn't want any of that - I'm sorry - crap installed in my CustomAssets folder.

We do have a warning in the installer to backup your CustomAssets before doing the install. We also have a warning on the latest version page on the forum, the web page, and the download page. We also offer a zip file, and the clickable installer lets you choose what directory you install into, if you'd like to install in the mods folder, and directions on how to make it work form the Mods folder. I'm guessing you didn't read ANY OF THE MANY WARNINGS, before you installed it, including the warning to backup your customassets, and it messed up your customassets? All I can say is read the docs.

And the title of the threads... this isn't a bug in the slightest.

Any mod has the potential to overwrite something else. Every single mod you can download from here.

If one is concerned about losing settings, then one should have the foresight to rename "Custom Assets" to "Custom Assets_080104"; then DIFF the new Custom Assets directory against the old, or just "copy & paste" the contents of the renamed Custom Assets into the new folder, and take note of which files it wants to write over - deny the overwrite, and then DIFF the individual files.

If one finds that too much work/hassle, well too bad I guess. This . .. .. .. . is free; the time put into some of these mods is more than impressive. A little thanks instead of whining might get you better results.

Sorry, but it is not BUG-related. It happens in the normal game as well. Firaxis broke this in the DLL with BtS 3.13.

If I figure out a way to determine a Civ's worst enemy, I will definitely consider adding it to the Glance tab. Thanks for putting it into SF.net.

This can't be Firaxis' ... unless the Unofficial BTS Patch fixes it...? Since it was displaying just fine for me w/ 3.13 patch & the Unofficial Patch, but now Trade Values in the City Screen display as an integer instead of a float after adding BUG into my custom assets.

Neither was it introduced with the unofficial patch nor was it fixed with it. So it really seems to be a BUG bug. If I uninstall BUG the values are displayed correctly in all my savegames.
But of course I installed it again...
Great mod! :goodjob:

Yeah exactly, a mild annoyance at best. Possibly a mis-CAST variable. The end result is displayed correctly...so it doesn't matter all that much that we can't see the 1.60 1.80, etc...starter value.

A serious annoyance when I play Vanilla or Warlords w/ acquaintances that don't have BTS...the previous unaltered play/game mods don't even come close to the thoroughness of BUG.

Ok, strange one this. I have BUG installed in my custom assets folder and everything works fine. However, one 'oddity' I've noticed is that my 'raw' trade route values in the city screen are returning extremely weird numbers (like 123456 instead of a normal 1.10 for example). The final trade routes values are sound and there's no apparent effect on the game, but the initial raw trade values are definitely warped. Does anyone else get this, is it related to BUG?

Cheers for any help.

Regards.

Yes, this is the bug i was talking about. It seems to be related to BUG.
But as Balderstrom said: It doesn't have an effect. It's just a display bug as far as I know.

I might track it down, but I'm fairly new to Python - seems closely related to C ... with some strange "string" concatenations.

Have been working on modifying the Custom Domestic Advisor - that is almost complete. On my 22" monitor the CDA is far too small ... and I wanted more fields populated than I could fit within the window after changing the font up a pt or 2 (with Blue Marble).

Confirm.

I have the same bug.

do you have a save that illustrates this 'bug'? Please upload and I will look at it.

Yes, I mean the AI's attitude score towards human doesn't add up to what is shown. For instance:

glance-bug.jpg

Lincoln should be +2, but is showing -5. Oranje should be +4, but is showing -3. Seems to be constant -7 offset somewhere. The attitude color is correct though.

The code isn't that bright. It grabs the text displayed in the popup and scans for numbers. I will bet that it is taking the '-7' from your leader name (STR-07) and including that.

Just wanted to post about 2 bugs/glitches. Both bugs are with BUG runnning from customassets with no other mods running.

In the hover text for all trade routes, Base profit is showing as 1243076 for all trade routes.

FWIW this is not a bug of BUG, the issue will persist without BUG installed.

@DrJambo and Fujisan - is this the bug that you are reporting or is it something different?
