Bug Reports and Technical Issues

The Varietas Delectat module is also available on Github, see the Welcome to DoC thread for a link.

To install it, download the separate repository for the module and then copy its Assets directory into the root level of the DoC directory, so that the Assets folder integrates into the Assets folder that is already there. This will create four new elements of note:
- Assets/Varietas Delectat.fpk: contains some of the art used by the module
- Assets/Modules/: contains all the art definitions as well as additional art used by the module
- Assets/Buildings/CIV4CityLSystem.xml: describes how city art should look based on the art style
- Assets/Buildings/CIV4PlotLSystem.xml: describes how improvement art should look based on the art style

The latter two XML files will already be there for the base mod. You have to confirm overwriting them.

Note that if you want to remove VD again, you can delete the FPK and the Modules folder, but you have to restore the original LSystem.xml files.

If you update the base mod directly via the git client, in 99.9% of situations you should be safe because my changes are unlikely to touch the LSystem.xml files. If you update the base mod by downloading the ZIP from Github, my recommendation is to delete the entire existing mod folder and start from scratch. In that case, unpack the base mod first, then copy the Assets directory from the module into it as described above. It's important that the module comes last.

By the way, save games are compatible whether you have the module present or not.
See this post on how to install VD with the git version.

Correct.

So I copied and overwrote the VD folder over the Assets folder, but I got a ton of error messages when I launched DOC. I wasn't sure what to do with the "Modules" folder either, which I didn't touch.

I am aware that 1.18 is about to be released though, so if you're not sure why this is happening, I can just wait for the official release to play with VD & Blue Marble.

Please follow the instructions in the section I quoted.

In 1700 AD start, Prussia flips a number of cities, creating 1871 German borders, and giving 450 points for "late developer" (can't remember what its called, but Prussia spawns in 1700 anyway). Is this WAD? Prussia is already an easy start.

EDIT: While on the topic: in 1700AD scenario, Poland builds hordes of "explorers" as fighting/defence units.
