Bug Reports Center

Pericles doesn't appear to get a visible + diplomatic modifier when I run Representation. I'm not sure if it's a bug though - perhaps you have to be in Representation for a certain amount of time? But all of the other leaders seem to get an immediate +1 diplomatic boost when you switch to their favourite civic...

I thought that you only got this diplomatic boost when both you and the AI leader are in the favourite civic of the AI leader.

Hello ladies.....
First, congratz for all the work u've done. Nice tips and mods....
Its very useful for big noobs like me.

I have a issue with the game now, and i need ur help...sorry if its not the best place for my message.

I have recently update my BTS game with the patch 3.17.
I did some solo games with the 3.17, win once and...lost too many times (like 4) whereas i'm only playing at Noble level.

I have a new connexion (i never played online with BTS), so, now, i could play on multiplayer to learn..and to be raped.:crazyeye:

But i have a curious problem....after something like 5 or 6 turns after the start of each multiplayer game, my computer crash and turns off automatically !
No message, no reason....i could restart after without any problem.
Civ4 BTS is the only program and game to have this issue....
I could play online with a lot of games..except this one.

My config (im not a master about all this things... sorry if im not precise enough):

-Acer Aspire M3100
-AMD Athlon 64(x2) Dual Core 4000+
-Virtual memory : 3.17 Gp
-ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro

Hope u could help me, and see you soon !

:goodjob:

You're right! You know, in all my years of playing I'd never noticed that (or if I did I've forgotten). Thanks! :)

welcome to cfc :band:

is there something in the windows event manager?

Thanks.;)

Hmm...after a check, the ID of the error is the number 6008.
"The previous system shutdown was unexpected"

I forget to say i'm running with...Vistaaaaa :crazyeye:
I love challenges.

I looked for similar crashes with vista - but there does not seem to be much in common between those... You might want to enable logging in the .ini for bts - set all items with log in their name to 1 - then start and crash a game and post the log folder as an attachment here. Maybe the MPLog says something...

@Vegetable: To be sure that civ4 is NOT the reason for the crash, you should reinstall from scratch a previous release and see if the same problem occurs. But from my point of view it seems you have a hardware/OS problem. Maybe your computer overheats and shut down. Maybe you are using a pci-card with bad compatibility (tv-cards for example). Maybe you have a defect memory. Perhaps you should use a regression test tool (like SiSoft Sandra) to analyze your system ...

I have changed the items with log in their name to 1....and it works.
I've done a OCC and being raped quite quickly (im a beginner) but it was cool

I hope it will works again for a 2nd game (and more, of course)...i will check.
If yes, thank u very much ladies.:goodjob:

@HHGrenade : I've already re-installed my game previously ;)

:hmm: hope it stays this way. It is a weird thing, I have seen this a few times, the only reason I can come up with is that the logging slows the game down a tad - and probably keeps it from doing too many things at the same time - :crazyeye: - but if it works there is no need to understand it :scan:

The chances of finding gold/gems/something hasn't been scaled down enough in marathon games. By the modern age every third hill or so has some resource. (Or maybe I just build too many mines)

Actually, I don't think it's been scaled down at all from normal speed (which probably explains the problem). ;) It's still a 1 in 10,000 chance per mine per turn on all game speeds.

I've also experienced the problem of having one in every third or fourth hill with a resource by the end of a marathon game. I guess it's probably an idea to fix this.

I never play at marathon speed, but I can imagine that there are some problems at that gamespeed with game features that don't scale with game speed. As long as it is not patched and you also always play at marathon speed, then you could create your own personal marathon mod which changes the odds to 1 in 30000 per turn, per mine in use, per resource. That would be a decent scaling of the effect compared to normal speed.

You could also mention it in Solvers unofficial patch forum.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but despite some small bugs in 3.17 that I've encountered (windowed mode graphics in Vista Home Premium SP1 are very screwy) and a game freeze in the new mod (MesoAmerica), I've been able to fool around with everything on the game and not have the same CTD problems as before. Its a little harder to load a mod now (I had to delete the old folder and then reinstall the new folder on a updated mod just yesterday), but after that, at least for that one mod I tried, the game worked fine. I don't know if there were any troubles loading mods after the release of this patch, but I tried fooling around for a while and came up with that solution at least for that one mod that wasn't working right (crashing at init graphics after showing prev. version maps).

Something I have noticed that has made creating any scenarios, etc. painfully impractical is that since the first or second update of Vanilla Civ all Civ versions won't allow you to change the start year in worldbuilder. I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that the game-date is now more intricately intertwined with the events of the game, both random and human, post that update or series of updates (?). Also guessing this is an older issue, but really haven't had the time to read through all 24 pages of this thread.

HI, I don't know if this a bug or not but I'm having a problem with Worldbuilder whenever I try to select the modify tile functionality. I can eliminate enemy units and change diplomatic relations but when I try to change desert to grass, for example, Civ 4 hangs and freezes my PC. I end up having to hard boot the PC.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

How old is your computer? I personally have had something like this happen on a PC that was sub-par with regards to specified memory for the game (256mb instead of required 512). Perhaps this is an issue with your computer not having being powerful enough to manage certain functions in the game (changing terrains actually uses a heck of a lot of memory compared to most other functions, wouldn't be surprised if you really need a GB of RAM to be safe).

about the people having randome shutdowns during the first few moments of online gameplay. I see people say its due to the game being overloaded with information... mabe the shutdown is due to that overload. If you'r computer uses too much power than its converter can crank out, the computer would shut down... but then again it will restart instantly cause it has enough power to do that after it shuts down... never mined i got nothing.

Don't know if mentioned before, don't even know if it's a bug...

In Vanilla Version, if I hit F1 (the cities' list) and select a city, the position of that city starts blinking on the map (bottom-left of the screen).

In BTS 3.17 it doesn't blink any more.

That was a little-important feature for organizing war-time production. I used the "F1 window" to do that, producing slow units (catapults, swordsman) in cities near the enemy and fast units (horses) in the others. Now I have to open every single city to see its position on the map...

PS.
Can I report a microscopic site bug?
In this page:
