Bug Reports Center

I don't think that's a bug; I think that's a deliberate feature to stop players advancing too quickly.

Building farms after Biology doesn't give the Biology food bonus to those farms.

To reproduce:
1. Start a new game. Build some farms before Biology.
2. Research Biology. Existing farms get +1 food.
3. Build some more farms. They only get +1 food for the farm, and not the extra +1 from Biology. I.e. a farm built on plains only gets 2 food, instead of 3.

Bug : Sometimes, telling a Great Leader to 'discover a new technology', will not discover the technology, only provide a portion of resource points.

To reproduce :
1. Start a new game. Get a great leader.
2. Tell that leader to discover a new technology.

It does not always happen to me, so I will try to find a saved game with a great leader ready, to see if I can make a saved game for you.

This is what is supposed to happen... as the game progresses the great people do not fully discover a technology only a portion of the points required to learn it. Not a bug, it's part of the game.

Well then the button should not say 'discover a new technology' if that is not what it does. It is confusing. Maybe instead it should say 'provide extra research for X tech' or something.

Right, just as using a Great Engineer to rush a production will finish the wonder for Ancient Age wonders, but as the game goes on and more costly wonders appear, it won't finish it, but it'll make a nice dent into it.

Thanks for all these reports guys, I will test some of them out with 1.09...

3. The land when explored by scouts and explorers does not go back to black once you move away from it.

6. Mountains should be able to be mined and have a fort on them

10. The ability to create "freedom fighters/terrorist" that can pillage, or move into another civs borders without causing a direct war between the civs.

Hi.

Tried to read most of the thread, to find something about my problem.

Game freezes when I am contacted by one of the other nations( in mid-game)

Their diplomat appears and i try to click on one of the replies. That is not possible. Nothing happens and i have to reboot the whole system.

Also, not very happy about the alt+tab thing, slow and buggy.

It's clear that the 1.09 helped a lot, before it i could'nt even start the game.

Anyone know when the next patch will appear?  :nuke:

This game was expensive.. hope they pay these programmers enough to make em work hard and fast for another patch!!!

After installing Harkonnen´s patch, everything has been working, except one little graphic error but it doesn´t bother me.

I don´t know is this a bug, but my golden age begun after constructing the Taj Mahal. Then the golden age ended, I got two great prophets that were bit useless and I wanted to use them to start a new golden age, but it didn´t work. I activated them both, but the "start golden age"-button were still dark and the text said that "consume 2 great people, need one more".

During some game I remember that some AI civ had two golden ages during the game. Can human player have more than one golden age per game? If it´s possible, I think this is a bug and if it doesn´t, I think there is still a bug, because that "start golden age"-button should be removed after it´s not possible to have new golden age anymore within this game.

Have someone had same kind of problem or some information about this?

Merry Cristmass for everyone!

You need two (or more) DIFFERENT Great People to have Golden Age

I don't know if anybody else has noticed this problem but its starting to drive me nuts. Try adding an item near the bottom of your list of available Units/buildings to your cue...When you click on the unit/building the screen jumps up to the top of your available unit list and consequently you end up adding a settler or worker to the build Que instead of the Temple you clicked on. Any body else have this problem...I also have the troops that run away off the screen or across the water and then disappear only to show back up where they were supposed to be...

PS: I tried to read this whole thread but I cant keep my eyes open.

SPS: I have the latest patch.

I installed the new patch last night and can no longer play LAN games. The games aren't even seen when I do direct IP connection. 2K games website isn't working. Was this new patch released accidentally?
Has anyone else seen this problem.
The two computers are in the same house on the same network and have had no prior problems playing a LAN campaign.
  :(

I can't even start a game. No menu comes up.

I have this same problem, I have reinstalled my new Christmas present CivIV twice already on my Dell Precision 450 WS with dual 2.4G P4 Xeon CPUs and NVIDIA Quadro FX 500/600 PCI graphics card.

The game will not start up properly. The first couple of "loading" screens come up, says its loading XML, then it goes away and the CD stops spinning and nothing happens.

Enabling logging, it captures this init.log file:

[68852.296] DBG: FILE Cat Init
[68852.515] DBG: NOT Using XML cache, failed to find crc.dat file
[68852.515] DBG: Game Init
[68852.515] DBG: Multiplayer Init

Any help would be appreciated.

Installed on a 2nd workstation here (Dell Precision 330, P4 1.5G w/2G RDRAM) and got exactly the same result and log file (just different numbers in brackets)

The OS for these two machines is XP Pro, and Win2k Pro respectively, with service patches installed.

Maybe you're building farms without irrigation? With Biology, you can build farms on spaces that don't have irrigation, but you only get +1 food until you irrigate them for another +1.

If you have the yield display turned on, and you have a cultural expansion in one of your cities which reveals new terrain, the new terrain doesn't get updated with yield information. The new spaces just show no yield symbols in them. If you press control-Y, then the correct yield symbols appear.

Well, there's this major error that I can't get past, which makes it so that I cannot start a game. Everything runs smoothly up until the whole "loading" process where it loads all the maps and stuff, it goes pretty smooth, but then freezes when it gets to the "finishing" part of the loading process, the cursor still moves and the music plays, but nothing happens, it just won't go past that part, it's inespecable too, so everytime this happens, I have to unplug my computer and replug, to restart the computer. I read the system requirements and I my computer seems to atleast reach the minimum in most places. I've seen videos of this and they look great, but man, I might just take this back and get another game, if I can't ever play it because it won't load.
