Burned by 2K and Firaxis

The game works for some people. Should they be forced to wait so you can have your game working 'out of the box'? Your solution would be to delay release, and that doesn't really help you, it just hurts the people for which the game works.

Has it occured to any of the people here that the reason we are hearing so little from Firaxis at the moment is because they are burning the midnight oil to get the patch up and running ASAP. Might I ALSO remind you people that it was Take2-NOT Firaxis-who pushed up the deadline of the game by almost 2 whole weeks (something that made a lot of people here happy at the time). The point is that Firaxis gives its products around 500% more post-release support than with any other game I have ever played, so perhaps if people did a LITTLE less whining (I mean, joining CivFanatics JUST so you can whine, that truly is LAME!!!), and simply delivered their bug reports at the appropriate place, then maybe Firaxis will be able to deliver a patch that solves ALL of our problems-no matter how small-in a single hit!

I doubt a separate rants forum would solve anything...wouldn't people go in there just to tell people to stop complaining?

After all, people come into this thread just to tell people to stop complaining...and its pretty clear from the title what you're going to find in here. :hmm:

I just want to play the game. Just tried again and it crashed in under a minute. The fact that there is a patch coming is an indication that there are problems with the software...I don't know why people continue to insist it must be a hardware problem.

I'm sure Firaxis is working on a patch. Just as I'm sure that a patch would have been unncecessary if they released a product that worked out of the box, which this one does not.

My buddy returned his already.

And no, I didn't join this forum just to whine. I joined a few years ago to get some tips on my Civ III game. Whining is merely another service I provide. Sarcasm is still free.

Later!

and, as I said, you can blame Take2 for that NOT Firaxis. If it had been up to Firaxis, even we Australians would probably not have been getting it til this week, but Take2 NEEDED the sales figures counted to offset the whole 'Hot Coffee' incident. At least, unlike some game companies, Firaxis is doing its best to rectify the problems caused by the early release-though maybe not for much longer if these usual suspects keep 'ranting and raving' about how 'evil and crap' Firaxis are .

You go it. I don't think there's a need for a complainer's forum, as the non-complainers already seem to have a kingdom all their own. Read on. It's called Happy Valley.

Storyteller
Once upon a time, long, long ago, there lay in a valley far, far away in the mountains the most contented kingdom the world has ever known. It was called Happy Valley, and it was ruled over by a wise old king called Otto. And all his subjects flourished and were happy, and there were no discontents or grumblers, because wise King Otto had had them all put to death, along with the trade union leaders, many years before. And all the happy folk of Happy Valley sang and danced all day long, and anyone who was for any reason miserable or unhappy or who had any difficult personal problem was prosecuted under the Happiness Act.

Prosecution
Caspar Schlitz, I put it to you that you were, on February 5th this year, very depressed with malice aforethought, and did moan quietly, contrary to the Cheerful Noises Act.

Schlitz
I did.

Defence
May I just explain, m'lud, that the reason for my client's behaviour was that his wife had just died that morning.

All except the accused laugh uproariously.

Judge
Members of the jury, have you reached your verdict?

Foreman
Guilty. [All laugh again.]

Judge
[donning red nose] I hereby sentence you to be hanged by the neck until you cheer up. [All laugh.]
