Buy a tile (land) feature?

I was looking at some of the Gamespot screen shots and discovered an item that has me confused...

If you look at the bottom of the above screen shot you will see an option to buy more tiles? Does this mean that you can purchase vacant land with gold? If so then that would be awesome!

Yes, the land rush feature was previously described a number of times. The catch is that the other Civs "notice" when you buy good land from under them and their attitude towards you is affected.

The way I am reading it ... you can purchase tiles for gold. I believe the price is going to be determined by how easy it would be for your empire to access that land (being close or far) and if there are any resources on it etc. So save up your gold to buy that iron tile just out of your reach.

The new interview that was just posted talks briefly about this also. Your borders expand naturaly one hex at a time. Also you can buy surrounding hexes if you have enough gold, to say get iron ect. I like this, and it makes saving your gold worth it.
