C2C - F1 /Advisor Icon not working

@Dreifels:
When you 'update to the latest the SVN assets' what steps do you take to do so?

the svn folders I have in H:\Civ4 C2C SVN
I rightclick on that folder and check "SVN update", then I get the newest files.

After that, I rename the active playing folder = F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos to F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\###Caveman2Cosmos and copy all folders/files of H:\Civ4 C2C SVN (except folder ".svn") to F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos

By this, the working folder alwas is same as the current svn

Yeah... no it's not. This is because when you copy it in like that you're not eliminating deleted files. Better to simply have your repository in the F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods folder and just update directly. Cut out the copy/paste step.

I strongly believe this is your problem and this is actually why I asked is because I suspected it was this to begin with.

last update today
edit: just run it again, got svn 9045

steps: H:\Civ4 C2C SVN
is my svn folder. I rightclick on it id check "svn update" and get thelast files
then I rename my working folder F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos to F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\###Caveman2Cosmos
and then I copy all folders/files (except the ".svn") of H:\Civ4 C2C SVN to F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos

by this, the working folder always is identically with the svn folder.

BTW just in idea: STRG + F1 and ALT + F1 do work for me in game. SHIFT + F1 is empty. Maybe you can add shift + F1 instead F1 or in addition? Then we can see if it is a special F1 thing of my comp (althought al other programs and games do work fine with F1)
Also I've seen that the module for the F1 Adviser is not in BUG, there are F2 - F12 set only. For me this means that the module for that advisor and F1 dos not load correctly (is there not a log for loading modules?) and/or the authors of BUG had a good reason why they did not use also F1.
Anyways, w/o that adviser the later game with lot of cities is hard to play.

you misunderstood me.
1) I rename F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos to F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\###Caveman2Cosmos
2) I create empty folder F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos
3) I copy H:\Civ4 C2C SVN to F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos
So there are no old or deleted files.

Edit
just made it again complete new with svn 9045, load the game and get a c++ runtime error
made it new again now w/o runtime error, but still no F1

At step 3 instead of copy try:

Tortoise SVN and Export - selecting the path to the new folder.

don't understand the difference of the result. The files are absolute identically with the svn and no old file remains.

Did you save your User Settings file from your old version? Sounds like you did not.

Every time you copy the way you do you are getting an Empty User Settings folder. You must now go find the Civ IV BtS Cache file in My Documents directory and delete it. You have conflicts coming from the Old cache.

And you should really only Copy the Assets and Source Folders from the SVN and use them to replace you Assets and Source Folders in F:\Civ_4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos. Delete the old Assets and Source Folders 1st, then copy /paste in the New.

Now IF you still have a copy of a former Caveman2Cosmos Mod residing someplace as a back up go check it's User Settings Folder. If that Folder is not empty use it to replace the Empty one you now have because of how you updated.

Please listen and understand. One final step is to do a Play Now game with C2C. Let it start play 1 turn. Then quit and start a new Custom Game with the Option you want. 1st turn of that game go the BUG Option screen and reset all the option in there that you normally like to use. Once done immediately Save the game. Once it has saved Save Again! Yes it will ask if you want to Overwrite and Yes you do.

After that you should be good to go.

I do know that. But in this case the ONLY thing is to find how F1 does not work, and because that I need to have a clean identically copy of svn.

I really don't understand what your point is related to the F1 problem.

The point is that it's working for the rest of us so you're doing something different that's causing you problems. I'm with Joe then that it's likely something to do with your user settings file.

And besides that... what a pain in the arse the steps you're taking... completely unnecessary. My repository is directly in my mod file and I've had NO problems from this at all.

caveman2cosmos folder contains all of the mod. The downoad version works fine, if I create a new game. The svn does not. Also does not work the package downloaded from Google.

So you have to look, what files between these two packages are different, ignore svn.
As with bot I do nothing. I start it and start it only.

T-brd,
Unfortunately either Dreifels does not comprehend what we are saying because of the language barrier, Or he just plain refuses to listen. The steps I provided would restore his F1 functionality but he
I really don't understand what your point is related to the F1 problem.
.

So what do you do when someone refuses to listen or follow instructions? :dunno:

@Dreifels,
We've tried to help you but it's not up to us to "So you have to look, what files between these two packages are different, ignore svn." No You have to look and listen. Understand?!
