In this thread we discuss the timeline of the future eras, and decide when major future events occurred and categorize them in a historical timeline. This will allow the ModTeam and players to get a summary of the Future Eras and its historical context

Transhuman(2010-2500 A.D) [combines Digital, Cyber,and Nano]
Galactic (2500-925,000 A.D) [combines Solar, Interstellar, and Galactic]
Dimension(925,000 A.D - end of time)

I don't think that a future timeline is all that necessary, as the whole point of C2C is you get to determine what the timeline in your game is. As for discussion of major technological advancements, there are already several threads on that matter for the future eras.

@Hydro: I'm sorry if I missed this somehow, but are we actually from a mechanics standpoint going to be splitting up the TH and Galactic Eras into several smaller eras? Or is this just a good classification for MrAzure's planning?

I did not think we were having a Luminal Era anymore. I thought it went Nano and then Solar and split up the techs that would have been in the Luminal Era to Late Nano and Early Solar. Like this ...

Nano (2200-2500 A.D) [Late Transhuman Era]
Solar (2500-10,000 A.D)

Yeah your right! I completely forgot. Thanks! :)

MrAzure would like to, otherwise they will be way bigger than most eras. I think we already went over the new tech color tree too (if someone could find a link).

I'm OK with that, but I'd prefer not to go till the year 100000 AD, that seems ridiculous. 3000 AD seems like a much more reasonable date. (as well as easier for me to implement:))

Keep in mind we discovered you CAN lengthen the time/rnd after you've shortened it. Thus you can indeed zoom in on the world war through modern down to even 1 month per turn, then begin extending it out again to 3 months per turn, 1 year per turn, 2 yrs per turn and onward.

Well the Space Colonization side will have a huge time scale comparable to the time scale of the prehistoirc era.

Takes a while to get across space.

Thus the timeline will be a mirror almost where it goes from thousands of years to hundreds to years to month to days and then at modern reverse and then go back to months, years and maybe even hundreds of years.

revised.

I can see the big picture, with LS612 help..

Transhuman Era
*all combined
Digital, 50 to 60 techs
Cyber, 50 to 60 techs
Nano 50 to 60 techs
each for a total of 150-180.

Galactic Era
*all combined
Solar, 50 to 60 techs
Interstellar, 50 to 60 techs
Galactic 50 to 60 techs
each for a total of 150-180.

Dimension Era
Then Dimension Era can be added after with max of 150.

Thats still 450-510 Techs!

So the future eras will be Transhuman, Galactic, and Dimension!

Transhuman(2010-2500 A.D) [combines Digital, Cyber,and Nano]
Galactic (2500-925,000 A.D) [combines Solar, Interstellar, and Galactic]
Dimension(925,000 A.D - end of time)

I'd prefer for each era to have around 100 or so techs. I think in acomplishing that one could merge the Cyber and Nano age periods into one (Nano age sounds like smaller/more complex digital and cyber stuff) and the Solar and Interstellar ages into one (The real solar exploration and colonization would occur during the cyber age. Thus we would be left with;

Transhuman Era:

Digital: ~45 techs if I counted right.
Cyber: Can most likely be reduced to ~50 techs with some careful thought.

Galactic Era:

Interstellar: This would involve pre-wormhole travel methods, and you would be very limited in your Galactic Map activities, but more options will be available towards the end.
Galactic: At Wormhole structuring and/or space folding (not sure which yet) you can start going anywhere on the Galactic Map in a reasonable amount of time.

For the Dimension Era, I have an idea. Vanilla BtS had a Space victory, which is obsolete now with C2C. My plan was/is to make the new space victory developing a way to control the massive energies of Sagittarius A, a supermassive black hole, to great a portal to another dimension and send a craft through. The victory would involve the building of both the ship and the support structures to control the massive energies, and then work as a normal BtS space victory (first civ through wins). That way we leave other dimensions a mystery, and put a fitting cap on the epic development of a civilization from cavemen 2 the Cosmos.:)

i understand it now, i can defiantly combine Cyber and Nano age.

45+50+30 =115 techs

This are the techs fro Nano Age. like60% of them
I can probably combine everything into 30 techs.

Sagittarius A sounds like a great plan, the only thing i am worried about its "God-techs" like basement universe, supernova harvesting, zero-point weapons, gravity bombs, black hole mining etc.., Planet teleportation, spartial manipulator, star bombs, artificial planets, lightyear cannon, space time.

Star Ruler has all that in Galactic Era, maybe we can too..

Here is another recent blog of the Timeline of future events from science fiction.
http://www.theawl.com/2012/08/a-timeline-of-future-events

"While some predictions of science fiction have come to pass, if we were to compile a calendar of future events based on speculative fiction (taking in works from both science fiction and fantasy genres), we would run some hazards—not least the natural reluctance of authors to affix specific dates to their imaginings. Think, for instance, of the novels set in the not-too-distant (Man Plus) or far, far future (Ender’s Game), or perhaps a dystopic future (Farhenheit 451, Anthem) such as, oh, after some apocalyptic event (The Last Man, Oryx and Crake), not to mention those that follow alternate time (Foundation series) and world systems (Anathem) entirely. By leaving their dates murky, writers allow their predictions the possibility of eventually coming true."

I hope all your good ideas come to be a part of C2C, MrAzure!
